Overall Satisfaction with D&B Finance Analytics

I use D&B Finance Analytics when I am performing due diligence on a potential new client. Each potential new client has to be thoroughly research before my firm will decide to officially take them on as a client. I use D&B Finance Analytics to verify that the company is in existence and to determine the health of the company, the business risk, the incorporation details, whether it is publicly traded, and also whether there are subsidiary companies in the corporate tree. The product helps to address whether the company is in good standing and whether its operations are such that it would be a good fit for the firm to take on as a client.
  • It provides details on the overall business risk of the company.
  • If it is unable to verify business operations, it says just that and gives examples of things it was not able to verify.
  • It allows access to other companies within the family tree.
  • I have had issues with D&B Finance timing me out of the system more quickly than any other site I use. Oftentimes this is done before I have a chance to save the report. As a result, I have to log back in and search the company again to gain access to the report.
Though I am not in a position to review numbers, I would say that it has increased the efficiency of my firm's risk analysis performance. We are able to confidently move forward or decline to work with a potential new client based on the information we review from D&B Finance analytics.
I was not involved in the implementation and deployment of D&B Finance Analytics. I also am not in a position to review the effect it has had on the credit and collections teams. I was hired as an analyst and I am a frequent user of the product.
I currently use Westlaw in conjunction with D&B Finance Analytics as I feel they provide different strengths. D&B Finance Analytics provides overall business risk information, while Westlaw provides bankruptcies, liens and judgements, UCC filings, criminal records, arrest records, and lawsuit records. Westlaw provides a more in depth view, while D&B Finance Analytics provides a great snapshot. I no longer use D&B Hoovers, but when I did, it was specifically to review the corporate tree of the company. I am still able to do that with D&B Finance Analytics, so D&B Hoovers is no longer needed.

Yes

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy D&B Finance Analytics again?

Yes

I would highly recommend D&B Finance Analytics, particularly if you are looking to determine whether a company is legitimate and to analyze it's overall risk. My favorite part of the site is reviewing the business risk and the examples that come along with it. For example, a recent company I research had a moderate overall business risk. According to D&B, there were some financial stress concerns, with
a moderately higher than average risk of financial stress, and a moderate
potential for severely delinquent payments. This is the kind of detail needed when determining whether or not a company would be a good fit as a client. I don't have any scenarios where it is less appropriate. It works perfectly for what I need to perform client due diligence.
