Overall Satisfaction with GitLab
Gitlab is a key tool within my organisation, as far as software development operations is concerned. We use it for collaboration purposes, issue tracking/software maintenance purposes and for security/compliance reasons. It is secured, reliable , comparatively easy to use and comes with very intuitive documentations as well. Ultimately for me personally, I have found Gitlab to be very valuable , especially as it relates to integrating Ci/CD pipelines into our software development workflow, for improved code quality and faster deployment.
- Faster and automated software deployment.
- Support for concurrent software deployment. This is key for teams with a cross section of engineers and developers , scattered across different locations.
- Supports the principles of agile development.
- Lacks a default integrated deployment server.
- The request merging process can be a lot straightforward, as against the current process which I describe as clumsy.
- Faster software development.
- Gitlab ensures our end-products are secured.
- Debugging and general software testing , is a lot easier with Gitlab.
Via provisions such as audit logs , datastores and Single sign-on protocols. Gitlab more than does enough for my team, as it relates to quickly identifying software vulnerabilities and securing the quality and privacy of our code.
CICD ( continuous integration and delivery ) is a very key aspect of software development for me , and it helps that Gitlab fully incorporates this process, into its infrastructure as well. With CI/CD, my company successfully migrated away from the more traditional SDLC ( software development life cycle ) framework. With Gitlabs incorporation of CICD , we are developing software faster, and successfully automating key aspects of the software development process or workflow , as far as my organisation is concerned.
Therefore, we are not only automating our software delivery processes , but we are likewise testing the quality of our code and performing the necessary checks , to ensure we are releasing the best version of software possible.
