Overall Satisfaction with Google Classroom

We use Google Classroom in our junior school to manage assignment tracking and collaboration between students in class.
Our teachers will post assignments, to be completed by students, and return work with feedback.
Teachers are able to manage student progress by being linked to a shared document so they can see, in real time, how students are progressing their work in class.
  • Collaboration
  • Simple to use for tech novices
  • Notifications
  • export of data to a central database
  • requires student interaction to join classes
  • parent access could be better
  • Collaboration
  • Ease of use
  • Support
  • Positive - It has enabled staff to save time in handing out and collecting assignments as this is now done digitally.
  • Positive - Student engagement has seen a rise as they have fun completing work online.
  • Negative - Double handling data that is needed for reporting as there is no direct database connection from Google Classroom to a school database.
Google Classroom's toolset is suited better for younger students. In our use of systems like Schoolbox and Canvas, they are better suited for older students(Year 7-12). These tools offer integrations into a school database which helps in cutting down double handling data. But, our teachers are happy using it which is great as they are able to really push the use of it in the classroom.

Do you think Google Classroom delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Google Classroom's feature set?

Yes

Did Google Classroom live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Google Classroom go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Google Classroom again?

Yes

Google Classroom is great for junior classrooms where students need to do simple tasks that a teacher needs to manage. Setting up classes is simple and manageable, by teachers, with little assistance needed from ICT. Students can navigate on any device type(Computer, tablet etc.). It would be great if feedback could be linked back to a schools central database to save double handling. Differentiating work types would also be a welcome addition to the Google Classroom toolset.
