Overall Satisfaction with IBM Instana
For general monitoring of backend systems majorly. And to get prompt alerts when system is underperforming
- Simple to use dashboards
- Tracing of calls is very much better than other similar tools
- Seamless integration for backend systems through agent
- Need to have flexibility for users in building custom metrics
- Grouping of error messages using patterns matching has to be better
- Alerting based on custom metrics and multiple conditions at a time should be present

- AppDynamics and New Relic
Instana is better at call tracing than the previous ones and is cost effective as well. But AppD can do a better job at constructing customised metrics, alert profiles and alert conditions as well, but it misses a lot of important details while tracing a call. At the same time, it can give more customizable options while creating a dashboard. It is not as simple to use as Instana, but is much more configuable.
New Relic is quite and expensive option comparatively, but it has its own perks.
