Overall Satisfaction with IBM Planning Analytics

I use IBM Planning Analytics to implement complex solutions for other companies. It is a very useful and dynamic solution that allows for flexibility within the model. Many companies with large amounts of data have a problem within their business analyzing data. IBM Planning Analytics helps to see the data in a format that is easy to comprehend and understand.
  • Data Analysis
  • Financial Reporting
  • Data Management
  • Training
  • Easy of use for non technical users
  • Dashboarding
  • Data Analysis
  • Forecasting
  • Faster than Excel based reporting
Very important especially for financial companies or financial groups within a company. IBM Planning Analytics allows for multiple scenarios and comparison between versions. Usually users like to compare forecast and actual data as well as have different what if scenarios based on changes to the forecast. IBM allows for many versions as well so memory is usually not a concern.

Do you think IBM Planning Analytics delivers good value for the price?

Are you happy with IBM Planning Analytics's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM Planning Analytics live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of IBM Planning Analytics go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Planning Analytics again?

Yes

Sometimes I get IBM support feedback very quickly and detailed and it helps to solve an issues immediately. However, I have had times where the support person has not been very knowledgeable, timely, or understood the problem which makes it difficult to find a solution. When issues occur especially in a production environment it is important to have accurate and timely responses from IBM.
For technical users Tm1 is very usable and has so many different options and scenarios if a user wants to get very detailed. However, I find that users with less technology or finance background sometimes find it difficult to use. Some users certainly do not get to experience the full capabilities of the tool due to lack of training or understanding of how it works.
Notepad++, Microsoft Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan)
The best scenario for IBM Planning Analytics is loading data into the application and analyzing and reporting on the data at a high level. TM1 allows for a variety of ways for users to see and understand their data which is extremely helpful. I think that for smaller scale models or simplistic scenarios it is not as appropriate or useful.
