Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use IBM WebSphere hybrid Application Server to ensure that there's communication between applications located on premises and in the AWS/Azure cloud and in addition we have also integrated it with applications that are external facing used by vendors and customers. It helps us maintain inter-operability across the hybrid environment and gives us a good status update of communication.

I would like for an easier integration with Apache Kafka
I would also like for the business rules layer to be a part of this same tool rather than use another tool

Alternatives Considered

Oracle WebLogic Application Server

IBM and weblogic are equally robust and support JVM's very well but where IBM is better is its out of the box integration with active directory that makes it easier to manage access control and security posture. In addition, the licensing model for IBM is lot more flexible for a hybrid environment with easier portability across the hybrid environ.

It is a true enterprise grad product that can support multiple Java virtual machines/containers (JVM) and can scale really well in terms of capacity. PRC that comes with the product has the best console functionality and can be used to monitor each and every including multiple JVM's inside the cluster. It works extremely well with Azure Active Directory and this is a big advantage.
