Overall Satisfaction with NextGen Healthcare EHR

We have used NextGen Healthcare EHR in our multi-specialty clinic since ~2003. We migrated to the NextGen PM system in 2017.
  • Practice Management is relatively smooth
  • Templates are easily customizable
  • Support is very poor and, I feel, gets worse every year
  • In my experience, interoperability is very clunky
  • Too many clicks and navigation to complete an encounter
  • Our AR days are very low compared to industry standard.
  • We end up using many 3rd party tools (IMO, virtual scribes, voice recognition, etc.) to accommodate shortfalls.
  • In my experience, some support issues take over a year to resolve. In the meantime, you have to develop workarounds.
We don't utilize these, but... in my experience, we've had problems with most NextGen acquired products. In my opinion, they don't play well and many have distinct administrative channels (so you need to log into different websites to administer these components). We did try NextGen mobile for a short spell but never bought more licenses because it simply did not deliver as promised.
I've yet to encounter a provider who thinks NextGen Healthcare EHR creates efficiencies for them.
We are moving away from NextGen Healthcare EHR to Epic this year.

Do you think NextGen Healthcare EHR delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with NextGen Healthcare EHR's feature set?

No

Did NextGen Healthcare EHR live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of NextGen Healthcare EHR go as expected?

No

Would you buy NextGen Healthcare EHR again?

No

Initially, NextGen Healthcare EHR worked well for us. As we grew and our needs changed, NextGen Healthcare EHR became less able to satisfy our needs. The customization options would work great for a single specialty, but for a large multi-specialty, every customization becomes more problematic.
