Overall Satisfaction with PayPal Payments
I've been using PayPal personally for about 20 years and it is my first choice both for receiving payments and making payments online and with people I don't know (offer up, craigslist, Facebook marketplace, door-to-door salesman). It's the first option we offered on our website when we started back in 2011. We also offer Amazon Pay and direct debit and credit card payments, but I like PayPal best. I appreciate that PayPal gives options for payment (credit card or bank), they are easy to work with as a vendor when customers ask for resolutions, and I have found them to be ethically sound and reasonable with their fees. When paying family and friends, there are no fees involved. When paying for services or products, the fees cover potential insurance (get the money back) if services are not provided or products not received.
- Great transparency and easy to understand what the service will or will not do.
- Gives options for payment (credit/debit/bank).
- A solid business that has been around since 1998. I would choose PayPal over any other service of its kind.
- Easy to resolve disputes/PayPal is ethical and fair.
- Sometimes the fees for the recipient in other countries (US to Mexico, for example) are quite high.
- Once funds are sent, it's very hard to get them returned. For example, if you send funds to an email that is no longer being used, the user of that email has to figure out how to log in to their old account and return the money to you.
- Ease of use.
- Consistent/don't change their rates or policies often.
- Safe and secure.
- Ease of use means likelihood of smoother transactions online = more revenue.
- Low Paypal fees means more money goes directly to our business.
- Sending funds overseas/outside the US means fees are much higher on the receiver's end.
I have used Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, Amazon Pay, and others only because they are popular with other people who wished to be paid that way. I got PayPal first, years ago, have used it on our website for our customers, and still like it the best. I have another friend who runs a business try other apps and products for collecting funds on her website/in-store, and she went back to PayPal because of PayPal's fair and ethical practices and low fees.
