Overall Satisfaction with Progress Kendo UI

We're using it heavily in a CRM system we're building for the medical wholesaling industry. The solution is custom so I can't get into the specifics too deeply, but we're using Progress ASP.net MVC heavily for all of our crud entry and we're also using Progress Reports (not report server) to do a number of document style layouts in our app.
  • Ease of use setting up grids for data entry.
  • Reports Compile into DLL so there is no need to have a report server available.
  • Progress reporting can be counter-intuitive and aggravating at times.
  • Certain controls work better than others, the grids are great, but the calendar control, while full-featured, is lacking.
  • It has provided great value in our smaller projects, but the main project that I've been involved with was improperly scoped and has therefore killed any chance at ROI.
  • Where speed and light customization of controls are concerned, I think it's a great product.
We considered Dev Express but ultimately chose Kendo based on familiarity another member of our dev staff had with the Progress UI.
I only really use the asp.net MVC web controls and the Progress reporting components so I can speak to those. The controls and extremely quick to set up and you can really get a functional site up and running fast. The downside would be areas where you need a high level of customization which is where kendo sometimes makes things more difficult than needed. Reporting works well for document-style reports that would embed well into an application. I would absolutely stick with SSRS on the other hand if any sort of reporting server functionality is needed (scheduled report delivery, access from multiple apps, standalone web-based report access).
