Overall Satisfaction with ProjectManager.com

I have used the trial version of Projectmanager.com while searching for a tool to support the day-to-day management of tasks on the project I currently work on. I used it to set up a task completion list and Gantt chart for my team, which we could then re-visit together on a weekly basis, and use personally on a daily basis to track what we needed to do. The Projectmanager.com interface made it easy to do all of these activities.
  • Gantt chart
  • Kanban board
  • Project planning
  • Project dashboards
  • Overwhelming number of options for new users
  • Project dashboards make reporting much simpler and quicker
  • Gantt charts quick and easy to create
  • Kanban boards useful additional feature for project tracking
Before trialling ProjectManager.com I tended to use Microsoft Project for creating Gantt charts, and various other tools for different additional features of project management. I found Microsoft Project a little more straightforward to use at first, but possibly that's just because I was getting used to ProjectManager.com as a new user. The range of integrated within ProjectManager.com is definitely a big bonus.

Do you think ProjectManager.com delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with ProjectManager.com's feature set?

Yes

Did ProjectManager.com live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of ProjectManager.com go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy ProjectManager.com again?

No

ProjectManager.com has everything that you need (and probably more) to set up and manage your projects at work. It is easy to create a list of the tasks that need to be completed and assign ownership of tasks, so that these can be tracked easily. ProjectManager.com makes it easy to create Gantt charts, Kanban boards, and project dashboards to provide further information on project progress. My only small criticism is that the range of options might be confusing for new users who aren't so familiar with project management, and that the interface could be a little simpler to navigate.

Using ProjectManager.com

1 - I don't know of other people within my organization who use ProjectManager.com - I took it upon myself to trial it in order to decide whether it might be a better alternative to the project management tools that are used currently.
1 - It would certainly be beneficial for users to have significant project management experience and/or qualifications in order to get the maximum benefit from ProjectManager.com. New users should be able to use it too, although at first they might find the range of features to be a bit overwhelming.
  • Project management
  • Project planning
  • Project reporting
ProjectManager.com had the full range of features that I needed to manage my projects effectively, but as a regular line manager (rather than a designated project manager) I personally don't think I actually need so many features. I could manage my own projects with a simpler product, so I would probably opt for a free or cheaper alternative in future. That's not a criticism of the product at all, just that it had more than I needed.

Evaluating ProjectManager.com and Competitors

  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
I decided to trial ProjectManager.com because I wanted to explore the benefits of a greater range of product features. I was impressed by all of the different features for project management within the software, and also appreciated how integrated these were.
I wouldn't change anything about my evaluation and selection process. Completing the free trial was a good way of learning about ProjectManager.com and understanding whether it would be a good fit for me (you just need to remember to cancel the trial period in time if you don't want to be charged)

Using ProjectManager.com

At first, the range of features can be a little overwhelming, particularly for users with more limited project management experience. However, there is good support information provided on how to use each different feature, so with a bit of care and attention a user should find it easy to learn how to use the software.
