Overall Satisfaction with Proofpoint Advanced Threat Protection

Our entire organization uses Proofpoint Advanced Threat Protection as our email security platform. It addresses the issue of hundreds of spam/malicious attacks we receive as a company on a daily basis.
  • Spam filtering.
  • Automatic retrieval of malicious emails that have gotten through the filter but were later detected using sample data across all the organizations Proofpoint has as customers.
  • There isn't a convenient one-source portal area yet for all Proofpoint products if you utilize more than one.
  • Our servers can sometimes be slow when loading pages, after placing tickets if the speeds go back up, support doesn't really do a deep dive on what's happening.
  • Less spoofing emails (Not 100% though).
  • More protection against malicious emails with the use of TRAP.
Above and beyond AppRiver. We had numerous spoof and email spam attacks get through on such a consistent basis with AppRiver that it drove our business to find a different email security solution.

I used Barracuda more than 4-5 years ago. Proofpoint is similar in quality though I can't say too much as the Barracuda platform I had experience with is most likely not up to date with their current product offering.
Very responsive, though I wish we had one or two specifically assigned support tickets in the Community Support portal. Our assigned customer manager and technical manager have been nothing short of outstanding, however!

If you don't have the budget to employ a good amount of IT Security employees, Proofpoint does a good job of sustaining itself with little upkeep. You'll want at least 1-2 "Champions" obviously but for smaller staff sizes, the product is worth the budget, especially if your IT staff wears multiple different job duty hats and can't devote their full attention to email security.
