Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA

SAP HANA forms the core of our digital enterprise. We are using SAP Business Suite on HANA and plan to use other SAP products on HANA in the future.

Pros

  • It provides a path for adoption of future SAP solutions on the same platform.
  • It makes access to data easier and faster using HANA Studio.
  • Provides OLAP and OLTP capabilities.

Cons

  • There is often confusion between the database and product suite bearing the same name.
  • There seems to a wide portfolio of products that utilize HANA, and the product road map of tools seem to overshadow the core native functionalities.
  • Improved data collection and consolidation by being the single platform of choice for SAP.
  • Maintenance on a new platform was an initial challenge, but that has improved over time.
HANA was the only choice for our SAP Business Suite installation because it provided a path to future SAP solutions.
Overall, it works as expected and delivers the value promised. SAP's application tools using HANA are still evolving. Training and learning still present a barrier to utilization

Digital core for SAP applications, especially working with larger databases, is a good fit for HANA.
However, there are specialized suites available that may be more suitable for some applications because they include a good application package.
