Overall Satisfaction with Shopify

Shopify was being used to process all of our e-commerce sales. It was a great way to ship products and manage inventory. We loved the integration between the US Postal Service and the web platform. It provided a simple way to get orders and fulfill them. We were an unlimited member, which was great because of the discounts offered through USPS on all of our orders, which meant more money for the bottom line. The fees were not bad, but a way to track payments would be helpful.
  • Shipping and fulfillment was so much easier through the Shopify platform. It integrated well and although it would have been difficult to do mass orders, completing smaller online purchases were a breeze.
  • The site set-up was very nice and looked very modern. We received many compliments and it was easy to set up and use.
  • The integration between different platforms, such as USPS, PayPal, Stripe, etc. was excellent when trying to maximize net income in light of expenses.
  • Reporting on income received and payments sent to our bank account could be improved and make to look a bit more like Quickbooks. It was confusing at times when we would receive a payment and matching each transactions. So perhaps an integration would be great.
  • The web-builder was great - initially - until we wanted to customize beyond the template and realized that we would have to hire an experienced technician to add a simple function. This was a bit frustrating and I believe their platform could improve in this way.
  • Tracking and reporting website views and hits and then conversion pixels from different social sites would have been helpful. All over, a more improved system of reporting would give the platform a more robust presence in this market.
  • It's been a positive in how the USPS integration provided discounts, which meant more return for fewer dollars on shipping.
  • On the negative side, it's difficult to customize the products and their offerings, which prevented us from offering specific items that could be customized, but there was little option for individuals to select how they wanted it to be customized.
  • A positive impact was through the affordability of the platform.
I have used bigcartel in the past. This was a good platform for what we initially needed it for - but Shopify was far superior because of its integrations and ability to support shipping and fulfillment seamlessly. Another similar site was Etsy. This is a great platform that offered a lot of analytics on individual products as well as a high level of product customization, both areas where Shopify is lacking.
Shopify is perfect for someone who wants to set up a simple and easy e-commerce site. With its multiple integrations, shipping and fulfillment can be a complete breeze. It's also very easy to navigate and provides most of what an individual would need to run a simple e-commerce site.

Shopify is not for large brands or organizations with a lot of traffic and online revenue. Why? Mainly because without a designated technician, it's difficult to customize the site and tracking incoming and outgoing payments would be a complete headache if there were a lot coming in.
