Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

We currently use SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor as a way to monitor critical services for our applications. We may not use it to its fullest, but this was the main reason we purchased it. With SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor, we know within 3 minutes when a service has gone down as we have it set to email us, or our on-call phone after ours. This ensures that our users are unaffected in the morning when they come in to work.

Pros

  • Monitoring critical services.
  • Telling which services are taxes the server the most.
  • Rebooting services in a single pane of glass.

Cons

  • Integrate the alert monitoring into the application monitor steps. Like a tab for setting up monitoring that is not required as it is difficult for newer users to set up the monitor and then set an alert on the monitor.
  • Fix critical issues quickly, reducing downtime.
  • Measure I/O and resource usage to ensure proper resources are allocated to save time on loading.
We chose SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor first and have not needed to look at any alternatives as it does everything we need!
SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor is great for businesses that have critical processes or many servers as the single pane of glass is a great tool for any small IT department. You do not want your users to tell you when something is wrong, so having an alert to pinpoint the issue and let you know first is worth so much!
