Overall Satisfaction with SQL Sentry

We currently use SQL Sentry Performance Advisor for monitoring our SQL Server estate. It has helped us to address the issue of poor performance, and made it obvious where the performance bottlenecks are.
  • Good indication of where blocking occurs as it occurs
  • Realtime indication of the longest running queries
  • Quick notification of deadlocks and a good record of deadlock history
  • Can be difficult to customise at times. Alert emails aren't as flexible as we would like
  • Licensing is a bit restrictive. Perhaps licencing on a number of servers basis such as 1-10,10-25,25-50 etc. rather than per instance would be better
Really good where there are badly performing queries, where the queries themselves are the issue rather than any hardware.
