Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Data Virtualization

Data from disparate sources had to be merged for loading to our warehouse.
Tibco provided Lineage and quick turnaround time to merge the data.
  • Drivers to access multiple data souces
  • Needs a bit of learning curve but Joining different sources
  • Exposing the data as REST API
  • Memory management can be better.
  • In a 2 node cluster, the timekeeper does not share much load. we need to scale it to multiple nodes to take advantage of the cluster.
  • The IDE for TDV Development can improve a lot
  • increase in productivity
Good:
  • Merging data from multiple sources is easy.
  • we can publish the tables/procedures as API with just click of a button.


Can Improve:
  • Tibco has cluster configuration but it needs minimum of 3+ nodes to take good advantage of nodes. In a 2 node configuration, only one of the nodes take up most of the load.
  • The Development environment(IDE) can improve a lot.
Good
  • Increased productivity
Bad:
  • for joins involving large data, we need to mange them via caching layer for optimal performance
No Plans to go to public cloud
  • Easy access of drivers to integrated with many data sources.
  • Simple SQL to join data across multiple sources
  • Easy to publish data as REST API's

Well Suited:
If data needs to be collected from different types
Quick ETL with SQL like coding.
need to Expose processed data in SQL, REST,SOAP with no extra coding.
