Overall Satisfaction with UiPath Enterprise RPA Platform

My company did an evaluation of the top 3 players in the RPA market and decided to get UiPath for its scalability, reputation on customer support and capabilities. Currently, there is a Center of Excellence and a number of areas adopting RPA. I'm an earlier user, so-called citizen developer, supporting Finance. So far I have developed 3 small robots to help with manual and time-consuming system maintenance and setups. In addition, I have trained two full-scale robots that are now 1) posting and loading journal entries in our ERP system and 2) processing manual data updates for our patient database.
  • UiPath is actually easy to learn, the training material is effective and to the point. UiPath certainly has the capabilities to automate manual repetitive tasks that involve any platform, with a stronger preference for websites.
  • There is room from improvement when dealing with Excel automation, but the solution is to create Excel macros and have the robot to call it, making it a great team solution.
  • As I mentioned, Excel automation is not very effective, there are a number of packages to add, but there is nothing as smooth as a good macro.
  • Working with selectors is certainly challenging and UiPath does a good job with that, but there is room for improvement since the interface could be smarter in selecting the right attributes and warn the user if something is not properly setup.
  • So far UiPath is saving a lot of time in Finance, close to 200 hours of work a month with just one automation. We are looking forward to additional time savings and efficiencies.
  • What it is really impactful is the employees job satisfaction. Now they are free from some manual, repetitive and boring tasks and they can focus on more value-add work like analysis of results.
Softomotive is very easy to use and learn, actually one are of the company had already developed a number of automation using them. The problem is lack of scalability, meaning thinking about future grow, it's not clear how they can handle / manage hundreds of robots.
Blue Prism was also considered, but there was no clear indication of a stronger selling point when compared to UiPath.
UiPath assigned a Customer Success Manager to us, and she has been working very closely to help us with the initial settings, as well as with any questions that we may have. She makes herself always available to any development challenges that we face as we work on creating new robots.
In addition, we have by-weekly users meetings where we discuss certain challenges and questions. When there are no specific topics, the Customer Success Manager shares best practices and useful programming techniques.
If that's not enough, UiPath has a complete team to address large challenges or technical difficulties that may arise as part of any robotic implementation or any particular automation.

Do you think UiPath Automation Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with UiPath Automation Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did UiPath Automation Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of UiPath Automation Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy UiPath Automation Platform again?

Yes

UiPath really shines when working with any enterprise application and especially with web-based applications.

UiPath is less appropriate to work with MS Office products, particularly when Excel or Access have user interfaces with buttons. UiPath cannot deal with them via simulate click, which makes the automation less effective by forcing the robot to take control of the computer and letting it finish, meaning the user has to wait for the robot to finish and can't perform other duties.
