Overall Satisfaction with Dell EMC VxBlock 1000 (formerly VCE Vblock)

We use vblock to consolidate our VM workloads previously running in HP environment. It is currently use by the whole organization to run our IT systems. The business problem it's trying to resolve is to simplify maintaining a single vendor for the whole infrastructure. Currently it's running different workloads namely SAP, Manufacturing applications, internal webapps, etc.
  • Single contact for vendor support.
  • Fully Tested and integrated.
  • Best of breed products combined.
  • Tech Support.
  • Documentation.
  • Management.
  • Product is not simple to manage.
  • Product is very expensive.
  • Documentation is too complicated to understand.
vce vBlock is considered a converged solution wherein 3 vendors namely cisco, vmware and emc combined in a single rack/solution. Compared to Nutanix which is tightly integrated, vblock does not provide the ease of use, support and management. The solution does not offer that much if you buy it separately.
VCE vBlock is well suited to run highly technical applications like SAP HANA. Having an infrastructure fully built from ground-up and well tested assure customers that everything had been done to architect the solution very well. Running general VM workloads is an overkill due to the expensive cost that this product entails.
