Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam primarily for backing up our legacy on-premise VMware cluster.

It provides us with means to generate cloud, local and tape backups to support different restoration and retention requirements.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • License portability as your environment needs change
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Ease of use
  • Reliability
  • Broad feature availability, without basic features being locked behind licensing
  • Native Scale HC3 support
  • Moving full tape licensing from Enterprise -> lower licensing brackets

5 at this time, a fraction of our original workload. If we hadn't been sunsetting the associated VMware cluster, it is likely we would be continuing to grow the coverage.
  • Extremely high ROI. We did not have the same positive ratio when working with other vendors in the past.
Our pre-existing BackupExec solution could not effectively cover our cluster at the time of our implementation. We have little basis for comparison, but were pleased to add the capability.
We have greatly benefited from having a cloud repository via CloudConnect, and it has been a hallmark of our Disaster Recovery planning.
We have not used this capacity, but are considering usage of it to replace a dedicated, pre-existing solution.
Veeam + a CloudConnect repository + tape drive provides on-premise, cloud & offline backups with a relatively small investment. The fact that it can do ad-hoc backups from fileshares on top of that is a plus.
