Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We utilize the Veeam Data Platform extensively within our organization to address critical business challenges and ensure the security and availability of our data. Our use case primarily falls into Data Backup and Recovery.
Veeam Data Backup & Recovery software solutions is central to our data backup and recovery strategy.
We use it to create regular backups of our critical data across various
platforms, ensuring that we can swiftly recover in cases of data loss,
hardware failures, or disasters.
  • Veeam Data Platform is its user-friendly and intuitive interface.
  • Exceptionally robust in safeguarding our critical data.
  • Veeam's help and support services have exceeded our expectations.
  • Changes have been made to the licensing model, and it has not always been clear to us how these changes affect our usage and costs. It would be beneficial if Veeam could provide more detailed and user-friendly information about licensing terms, pricing structures, and any modifications to ensure that users have a clear understanding of what is required and what they are entitled to. Improved transparency in this regard would help us effectively plan and budget for our data management needs and reduce any potential confusion or uncertainty surrounding licensing.

  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
In our organization, we currently protect a significant number of
workloads using the Veeam Data Platform. This includes several hundred
virtual workloads and only a handful of physical servers. This
deployment aligns with our initial objectives when we first acquired the
product.
Our goal from the outset was to consolidate and streamline our backup
solutions into a single, comprehensive platform, which is precisely what
Veeam Data Platform has enabled us to achieve. By phasing out other
backup solutions and centralizing our backup strategy with Veeam, we
have simplified our data management processes, reduced complexity, and
enhanced overall efficiency.
The fact that we have primarily virtual workloads aligns with the
strengths of Veeam, which is known for its excellence in virtualized
environments. As a result, the number of workloads protected by Veeam
Data Platform is in line with our expectations, and we are pleased with
the outcome.
  • Veeams platform has contributed to substantial cost savings by streamlining our data management processes and eliminating the need for multiple backup solutions. The consolidation of our backup strategy has reduced software licensing costs and hardware requirements.
  • The robust data protection and recovery capabilities of Veeam have significantly reduced downtime in the event of data loss or system failures.
  • The user-friendly interface and automation features of Veeam have improved operational efficiency. Our IT team can manage backups and recovery tasks more effectively, allowing them to focus on strategic initiatives.
  • While Veeam excels in many areas, we have encountered some administrative challenges, such as the delegation of restore tasks to non-technical personnel.
The decision to transition to Veeam Data Platform as our backup solution
was driven by the need to consolidate and modernize our backup
infrastructure. The triggering action was the recognition that our
previous backup environment had become fragmented and complex due to the
use of multiple backup solutions. This complexity was not only
challenging to manage but also posed risks to our data availability and
recovery capabilities. To summarize, the transition to Veeam Data Platform was prompted by the
need to simplify and modernize our backup infrastructure. Our experience
with Veeam has been notably more efficient, user-friendly, and
cost-effective compared to our previous setup, aligning well with our
goals of enhancing data management and availability.
We have not yet taken advantage of Veeam Data Platform's cloud capabilities due to our current on-premises setup. If we decide to adopt cloud platforms, we will definitely evaluate Veeam's platform to leverage these features for improved data protection, storage and disaster recovery in a cloud-centric environment. We have run some tests in our test and development environment with good results.
Even though we have primarily utilized Veeam Data Platform's
NAS/File-share backup solution in our test and development environment,
we have experienced the benefits of streamlined backup processes and
reliable data recovery for unstructured data. These advantages position
us well to consider its broader implementation across our production
environments as needed.

Veeam Data Platform shines in virtualized environments. Its ease of use and straightforward interface make it particularly well-suited for protecting and managing data in virtual machines. Whether it's backing up, replicating, or recovering virtualized workloads, Veeam's capabilities in this area are top-notch.
When it comes to data recovery tasks handled by IT teams, Veeam Data Platform proves highly effective. IT administrators can easily perform data restores, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of data-related issues. But there are some challenges when it comes to delegating restore tasks to helpdesk personnel or non-technical users. The administrative interface could benefit from improved features for delegation and role-based access control to streamline this process. This limitation can make it less suitable for organizations that rely heavily on helpdesk teams for routine data recovery tasks.
