ActiveCollab

Scenarios where ActiveCollab works well1) ActiveCollab works well for small teams specifically T&M teams. Its invoicing feature is unique & can make your life easy.2) It is very easy to use & posses good range of filters like on the task list, we can drag/drop tasks, Filter by assignee's,
tasks lists, due dates, or completed tasks. 3) It has some simple but awesome features like when you're in
the middle of writing something i.e a comment on story and get interrupted,
it retains what you wrote.4) It allows you to tag team members in threads of comments to grab their attention, its really needed when teams are distributed. Thus helping team members to collaborate easily & stay on same page.5) It integrates pretty well with other web apps like quickbooks , Slack, Trello, HubSpot, Zapier etcScenarios where ActiveCollab did not work well1) Tasks can not have multiple assignee's here so if two members are working on same task it did not allow you to reflect that.2) Sorting capability is not their under invoicing3) It did not work well for larger teams4) Search option is not very detailed & you may end up wasting lot of time searching one particular bug or issue.

If you are trying to track time across teams or functions, that is really what FunctionFox is designed for. I think this would work better for individual, smaller teams with similar tasks and activities, instead of for larger companies with more complex organizational operations. If you are just getting started with time tracking, this could be a good place to start.

Pros

  • Project Management - Makes it very efficient to manage projects using Gantt Charts, daily email reports and custom reports!
  • Collaboration - Allows to collaborate with team members, tag them in tasks, send files/attachments.
  • Task delegation - With just 2 clicks you can delegate tasks to other team members/users.

  • FunctionFox allows 451 Marketing to pull and customize many different reports, which is important to us both internally and externally.
  • FunctionFox allows 451 Marketing to track time either by exact time, using the timer or by entering time in blocks. That is helpful to us because we have 6 different departments and each department likes to track differently.
  • FunctionFox allows administrators to assign different levels of usage per user.

Cons

  • It is confusing when a review is made, before buying the product.
  • It lacks animation and pleasant forms for the user.
  • Does not allow effective communication when activities are reported. Since it does not provide a direct message chat.
  • The reports that are generated are basic, they do not have personalization characteristics.

  • FunctionFox could benefit from making some changes to the over all look and layout of the site.
  • FunctionFox should make some changes as to how many steps there are to complete certain processes, it can often times be unnecessary and can often be troublesome. A simpler process would be beneficial.
  • 451 Marketing is currently changing how we bill, it would be nice to see some easier ways to incorporate this change.

It's a good tool for tracking hours and overall budget. It does not give you insight into why there are those hours, or what part of the project has over burned. The tool is also tough to export reports and find the correct information throughout. Not only this, but I also have a hard time changing project details - there's no real easy way to and there's a larger room for error

I haven't used FunctionFox for a lot of support requests. On the times that i've been having issues I've had the issue resolved within a day, most questions I have had i've been able to source answers online or from a colleague. From what I have experienced the support team seems great.

Unsure on implementation of FunctionFox - was before my time at the company. Everyone at the company had a good understanding of the product and how to use it by the time I joined. My understanding is we implemented ourselves with a few training sessions for the creative team and adding hours as well as training for the account team to add projects

Alternatives Considered

Certainly, each of them has a particular advantage, which in the end makes it unique. ActiveCollab also belongs to a group of platforms created to be represented in particular, its way of project management is superior to JIRA or Trello. With this software, the work is more controlled and organized.

I haven't really used any products exactly similar to TimeFox. However, I have used Intacct which is a much complicated software in which you can track your hours, projects, contracts, billing, etc. It is an accounting software and TimeFox on the other hand is just mainly focused on time tracking of various projects.

Return on Investment

  • ActiveCollab allowed me to get rid of spreadsheets and physical reports that always take away a lot of time.
  • The automation of the management processes of the company is fantastic thanks to ActiveCollab.
  • The whole team has focused more on the execution of its activities.

  • FunctionFox has been our very first time tracking application for the business, so it's helped ensure we're billing out for all the time worked on our client's behalf. Or at least we are able to see how much time we consciously decide NOT to bill.
  • With greater visibility of our data, we're able to track employee efficiency. For instance, we are able to see the # of hours that are billable vs. non-billable per week, so everyone now sees their billable % stats with each paycheck.
  • The cost of FunctionFox is low, and you're not billed for archived users so it's been a great value for the money. It only helps us produce revenue, with exceptionally little cost. This product fulfills a much needed service in the arena of essential apps for small businesses.
