ActiveCampaign works really well for managing traffic from social media adverts, or for triggering a marketing campaign to a distribution list and then managing all the steps that follow. The CRM part is still appropriate for all clients, but for some client types, the automation may not be appropriate, depending on the sector and client relationship.

HubSpot CRM

If you have a sales team, this is the CRM to use. I have used both Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics in the past, and HubSpot CRM is essentially the Apple iPhone of CRMs. It is extremely user-friendly. We don't babysit our reps, so we give each the ability to make edits on their account records. If you have a CRM manager and you prefer your reps to not have access to the full suite of tools, then HubSpot CRM might not be the best fit for your team. If you hire great people and enable them to do their jobs, then there isn't a better tool out there.

  • The email builder is annoying. Very slow at work and it constantly resets the cursor, font type and list continuation. It's one of the most frustrating things about it.
  • I am surprised there isn't an automatic "send to people who haven't opened the last x campaigns" trigger. Other competitors have this feature. Instead, I'm forced to use 2 automations that play the role of tagging after a certain amount of days have passed.
  • While it's a market practice, I think the cost can go up exponentially the more members one has. Maybe I don't understand the process enough but places like Sendgrid, MailerLite offer decent automations and 1,000 subscribers free. I know sendgrid charges per email sent but still I find the cost to pay for a list size odd.
  • The overall refresh rate of the platform seems to use a lot of CPU power because it lags every time I switch functions or create new steps. I can hear my fans go to high every time I start doing something. I know my CPU is old but I use other demanding software and I don't have that problem. I think the refresh rate and speed of the platform can be improved.

I've used both MS Dynamics and Salesforce.com, and I can say without hesitation that HubSpot CRM is more intuitive, easier, and provides better visualization. With no training, I was able to log in and learn how to automate emails, create contacts, companies, and deals. The task management features available are a huge win, providing easy reminders for follow-up on deals.

I haven't experienced application errors or unplanned outages at all. Active Campaign is ultra reliable and I would not be using them if that were the case. Also, the helpful emails they send are welcomed and informative, and present very practical tips and guidance for using the platform. They're always demonstrating new features and I'm thankful for that.

Oh my gosh, Active Campaign's performance gets an A+++ in my book. The pages load quickly and so do the reports. I haven't noticed any slowdowns when it's integrating with other programs and it performs excellently on all levels.

This might be the best part. The chat support lady offered to make a video to help me solve my problem. I worked in customer service for years and I've never done that, lol. So, if they're offering things like that, I can only imagine that they'd be able to handle most any issue you throw at them.

HubSpot CRM is more robust and is easier for us to maintain the data by having the marketing automation component separate to our core database, which is Dynamics CE. The ability to aggregate data, and ease of use was the biggest factor when deciding to go with HubSpot CRM. Also from a cost basis, we were able to reduce the amount of additional plug-ins and tools by centralizing with HubSpot CRM.

My web designer told me about Active Campaign and although I don't recall which platform I had before, I LOVE Active Campaign and its user friendliness. The transition was seamless and I've never had a problem with functionality or server failure.
Active Campaign provides so many features, and makes it easy for non-techies to maneuver around the site with ease. They capture information and put it in an easy-to-read format.
At this point, I don't think I'd ever use any other platform!
