AdStage

AdStage is great if you're an agency or an in-house marketer managing a lot of ad budget, a lot of campaigns, or a large number of clients and you want to get the day-to-day tasks cleared to focus on higher-brain-stem tasks. Bid and budget management are replaced by rules. Holiday sales are replaced with flighting. All of your team members can log in, access their accounts, set up their reports and have them send to clients without having to lift a finger.

The pricing model of MediaMath with respect to agencies should be a little different, since you have to consider that agencies have various sets of clients with different needs. Not all agency clients have equal budgets to spend. So the platform fee should not be flat rather there should be a formula with respect to spend level and use for each client at agency level.

Pros

  • Easily pulling together API access for multiple channels into one area for in-depth reporting
  • Automation. They helped a bunch with features that LinkedIn didn't have.
  • The team. They were always super responsive and on the ball with any questions or concerns we had. The customer service was great.
  • General reporting and tieing data together.

  • Targeting: it has different options to segment the audience: contextual, day, technology, and location by country, city or geofence through Factual.
  • Appstore: You have extra tools to analyze or do extra things for your campaigns, for example, the bidder insights, with this you have a general panorama of the PMPs implemented, you can see info like matches, bid request, etc. Another app is Factual, in which you can geofence specific locations, for example, all the Walmarts even if you don't have the coordinates.
  • Reports: It has all the detailed reports that you can wish in a DSP, for example, site transparency, performance, technology, reach and frequency, win rate, etc.

Cons

  • We were with them in the earlier days and when they were growing larger. We experienced some of that pain with pricing changes that didn't feel quite right. But, they've fixed this now.
  • We didn't really see the usefulness at times of optimizing some of the channels through AdStage, but we loved the reporting features they had for the channels.
  • Better tiers for payment and what fits into those. Again, these are being addressed much better now.

  • Bulk Editing was limited to only some targeting parameters
  • Projection tools are limited and typically only apply to large scale campaigns
  • App targeting is difficult as app IDs must be manually gathered

Likelihood to Renew

AdStage has been great and the only reason we wouldn't renew is if we decided to build this all out internally for API access. But, customer services is great, the product is great and I'd definitely recommend it.

I am very much familiar to this product and it has greater advantage to use if the price is right to adopt at an agency level and work with multiple clients. I don't have to shuffle and negotiate with multiple publishers

Support

AdStage had great support. They got back to me quickly every time, they always had or found an answer for what I was looking for, they took my feedback well, and they were knowledgeable with the platform and any issues I had. I have worked with a lot of other companies that are slow and AdStage definitely isn't one of them.

Alternatives Considered

We've used tools like Companion Labs and AdEspresso before for Facebook Ads, or Optmyzer or WordStream for Google Ads, and AdStage has so many features that these systems don't. True, it's drastically more expensive than most, but the feature set is leaps and bounds above. From automation to reporting to even campaign monitoring being in a single platform with this level of customization, it's playing at a different level than anything else we've used off-the-shelf.

Rocket Fuel, Trade Desk, AppNexus and DBM. We did choose MediaMath for the ease of use of the platform and the presence of an open API to connect all the tools we did need and develop the tools we will need to keep ourself ahead of the competition.

Return on Investment

  • It's saved time for me to easily build out campaigns in Facebook and LinkedIn quickly and in scale
  • It gives people the option to get direct API access to multiple channels without having to build it all in-house
  • It allowed some great optimizations for LinkedIn which allowed us to use our spend there better
Matthew Lloyd profile photo
  • Really good ROI as our clients are always keen to try new and innovative campaigns that only TerminalOne help us to deploy.
  • We can develop all the internal tools we needed to get the maximum insight we are required by our client to provide them.
