Tax Payments to multiple states using one check request. You also will not have to set up multiple vendors in your system.

Bill.com

If a company just can't grasp the idea of having us process their payables electronically, it might not be a fit. Sometimes, some companies just want things done the manual way. Also, if there are not enough bills to justify cost of Bill.com (which is rare), it might not be a fit.

  • Accounts Payable Imaging and Routing - No more file cabinets, not more chasing down invoices lost in mail boxes, no more delay in getting payments approved.
  • No Software or Hardware - since Bill.com is completely cloud based, it is inexpensive to get started and convenient.
  • Fees are Transaction Based - at this time, checks cost $1.49 and ACH payments are $.49 each. Monthly fees are between $50 and $200. Depending on volume, total costs can be much lower than traditional software systems.
  • Eliminates paper checks and file cabinet storage of AP vouchers.

Bill.com continues to raise the bar with new features and improved interface. The Fast Pay option is another innovation that reduces administrative time when you have to get an overnight check out. The new Chat Support interface, powered by Zopim, which is world-class, adds to the responsiveness of Bill.com's support team and makes getting real-time answers that much easier.

The only time Bill.com was ever "unavailable" was then the Sync to Quickbooks function failed. That happened a time or two but was usually quickly remedied. I'm not sure if that's an issue with newer online versions of Quickbooks Enterprise -- at the time we were using a remotely hosted Quickbooks instance accessed via terminal server (vs a cloud offering like Bill.com is)

Any time we had a question or issue the online help system worked flawlessly. You could always get a live person in under a minute or two and they always seemed extremely knowledgeable about the product and were quick and helpful in resolving any issues or questions. Whenever we had to call them on the phone (to cancel a check, setup new administrators in the system [bank security related], etc), they were easy to reach and extremely helpful. I think Bill.com's service is up there among the best I've seen, across both online and telephone channels.

Alternatives Considered

I have not used other products. We use to create multiple check requests every month to process different payments in house.

Return on Investment

  • increased efficiency of payment process

  • Increased employee efficiency - less time filing and pulling documents after-the-fact if they are needed as a reference.
  • An employee that is not familiar with QuickBooks is able to use Bill.com for entering vendor bills rather than having to train on QuickBooks. Easier to use for a non-accountant in some cases.
  • Bill paying process is much more efficient; I had one client that used to pay all bills via their bank account - this was prone to human error as the amounts and details were input manually and was much more time consuming. Bill.com has all information regarding the bill and related payment in one place.
