Asana
Chose Asana
Personally, I didn't have a say in this as I had not started at the company when the team decided on Asana. That said, I have used monday.com, and we also have JIRA, which is used by our dev team, and us occasionally if we need to. JIRA has too many bells and whistles and is …
Chose Asana
I have been using Smartsheet for a similar project management usage with a customer of ours. Asana is way better than Smartsheet with a much better user interface and experience.
Chose Asana
We selected ASANA based on the feature set, and ease of rollout. monday.com had very good workflow automation but we found that ASANA was quicker and easier for staff to build a task eco-system that worked for them.
Zoho Projects was a very strong contender but was much more …
Chose Asana
Side by side with the other two Asana by far beats monday.com and is comparable and slightly better than ClickUp. Monday is completely browser-based and is hard to navigate and figure out how to set up. Asana and ClickUp are the exact opposite. Both are easy to set up and …
Chose Asana
I prefer Asana's user interface over monday.com. Asana's app is also incredibly helpful and I am not sure if monday.com's app is as loaded with features as Asana's is.
Chose Asana
Asana is a top-tier project management software that helps us organize and track projects from start to finish. It allows us to apply tasks/to-dos to multiple projects without duplication, divide complex projects into smaller tasks, and track project progress. It also helps us …
Chose Asana
Some features are better; some are too much. Not huge differences.
Chose Asana
I like how extensive the capabilities are for Asana. With other softwares it seems there are many things lacking. I feel like Asana is also a very user friendly platform and aesthetically pleasing which is important in a modern office. We have many young people entering our …
Chose Asana
Asana does well at the assignment of tasks and task management, but it is not a resource planning tool. Other tools do better at resource planning and some principles of agile/scrum. It is simple and easy to use within the mobile application and on desktop, but it doesn't have …
Chose Asana
We tried it as one my developers swore up and down how good it was at the startup... well it crashed in our office, since we didn't end up working the way they did. We are more of a dev ops company than a social media or open source
Chose Asana
In comparison to other Project Management software tools that I have used, Asana is the most user friendly platform without compromising any advanced capabilities.
Chose Asana
I use both products. Asana is more established on the campus.
Chose Asana
Asana hit our sweet spot of easy to try, appropriate pricing for our mid size non-profit team, flexibility, and features. Lots of other platforms have very similar features organized in other ways, but Asana made sense and was fun to work with right off the bat. there were …
Chose Asana
Asana is more complex than other alternatives that we have used within the organization, but is great for organizations with upwards of 10 people inside a department
Chose Asana
Asana has a better user experience and user interface than other project management software I have used. It is much easier to learn than the other products, and I have been able to customize its use in better ways than I have accomplished with others. Much more than a to-do …
Chose Asana
I view Asana as a lightweight PM tool, more for task management and collaboration.
Chose Asana
Asana stack over its various major competitors as its costing is quite under budget. The support to user is 24 x 7 and call centers available. The mail reply within 24 hours. Apart from it its user community is quite big and helps in the system to grow. It is widely accepted in …
Chose Asana
Asana is lightweight and relatively inexpensive. For our marketing and advertising team, it works great. For teams with stricter needs (development teams, product teams, and other scrum teams), looking at other options might be worthwhile.
Chose Asana
Both software are very similar to each other, even in the economic factor, the reason we choose Asana over the others is because of its usability, the software is very easy to use which helps to get the most out of it, in addition to the integrations that provide Asana with …
Chose Asana
Asana shines as a project management tool. It far exceeds other comparable programs as it has and is constantly adding new features for its free and premium users. The program is consistently adapting to market needs, keeping it viable as a project tool that can be utilized by …
Chose Asana
There were a combination of factors that led us to decide on Asana, including ease of use and external system integrations, but primarily we could use it across geographically distributed offices successfully and incorporate a variety of end user work flows based on global …
Chose Asana
Asana and Monday are similar in that they are both task tracking softwares however I feel that Asana is a bit too simple for our team as opposed to Monday. Asana is great for a small to medium sized team, we are looking for a software that we can use across multiple departments …
monday.com
Chose monday.com
ClickUp is a competitor but Monday's design is much better and user experience is superior. Also, export functions are a class above those of ClickUp. Asana is trying to compete with a lot more project management apps by picking the best features and making them available to …
Chose monday.com
I like that monday.com has automations so that I can set myself a reminder if tasks are not completed by the due date. Monday.com also makes it easy to replicate or copy boards, as well as the customization opportunities. Monday.com makes it easy to break down a project into …
Chose monday.com
overall, the diverse views and customization put monday.com ahead of the other platforms because its tailored for each individual. Asana is a great to do list platform, but lacks features that are needed to manage a project. click up is a great free platform, but lacks the …
Chose monday.com
Easier to use than JIRA. Assigning tasks and creating stories are easier. easier to view in Kanban compared to JIRA.
Asana comparison is about the same. But more visibility with status of tasks than Asana.
Interface is easier to use compared to Trello
Chose monday.com
Smartsheet does more than we needed it to do for our simple project management. JIRA is the same way. Asana and Trello are probably the closest comparisons for our needs. Both of these others are great, and I don't have any real complaints to compare on any of these. Monday.com …
Chose monday.com
Candidly, we still use both as monday.com and Smartsheet, as monday.com only recently added dependencies, and that was integral to our proposal and pricing process.
Chose monday.com
Both are very powerful project management software solutions. Smartsheet has a small advantage, specifically in that area, but has none of the other features we use it for in regards to creating forms for external facing parties, automation within our group, and basic visible …
Chose monday.com
Monday.com's layout is closer to a spreadsheet, and has better features to categorize and search data. I can go deeper, adding more and more insight to a task, than I could with a card, even when I used premium add-ons. I couldn't get a good grasp on what was going on with Asana
Chose monday.com
I think monday.com is a more complete tool than Asana or Trello. It has many more features and help for many other things, such as integrations and automations.

I didn't select monday.com. The company where I work did it and I don't really know why.
Chose monday.com
monday.com has the only interface that is 100% customizable, can use public and private boards, can be shared with customers, produce Gantt charts, and has THE MOST integrations "in house". The professional relationships that monday.com has established to be "on board" with …
Chose monday.com
I'd put monday.com and Asana on par, then ClickUp and lastly Jira. Jira would be more appropriate for exclusively technology engineering teams. Jotform offers better choices for forms use cases especially ones with complexity. Zoho makes more sense when you have the full suite, …
Chose monday.com
Is far away the best!! With monday.com I find everything I need easily. As I said before, its user-friendly interface, which is intuitive and easy to navigate.
Chose monday.com
Although monday.com costs more than the other services, it can handle more as a platform. The functions, features, integrations, and automations allow you to do so much more than, than just keeping track of project & task deadlines.
Chose monday.com
Monday.com is much easier to use and isn't as complex. We didn't need a complex project management tool for what we are using it for, and monday.com is perfect for that.
Chose monday.com
Monday is much easier to use and learn. So far everyone has figured it out just by using it or after watching a brief training video. Most other tools have parts that we wouldn't use or be just too complicated for the average user. We feel with Mondayulse we are not struggling …
Chose monday.com
Basecamp has some very nice project management features but Monday.com really focuses on task management and keeping teams accountable/organized. We fell in love with the visual task boards that Monday.com offers and that's why we chose to go with it. We also really enjoyed …
Chose monday.com
We have tried many other project management programs. In the end, we were able to customize Monday more easily to fit our team's needs and handle more things in Monday than the others. It's nice to have everything in one place (campaign planning, team task lists, upcoming …
Chose monday.com
Monday.com makes team collaboration very easy and smooth.
Chose monday.com
Monday.com has a lot of functionality and visibility that the other tech we've used did not. the notifications and ease of adding new tasks and projects are also better than the other tech we have used.
Chose monday.com

Chose Smartsheet
Our design and dev team really enjoyed the look, feel, and flow of monday. However, from a project management and timeline approach I found it to be overwhelming and cumbersome. I needed a tool that could easily be replicable and client facing.
Chose Smartsheet
Asana has a nicer interface but it expensive for what you get. Airtable works well. I would prefer Airtable over Smartsheet except it does not have the capability to fill out the DocuSign's we need. Otherwise, I would solely use Airtable for this. Google Sheets is great and …
Chose Smartsheet
Smarsheet was cheaper. JIRA is really expensive compared to Smartsheet. Smartsheet is also not just a checklist. Asana to me is just a checklist, which sometimes is not useful at all in project management.
I call it an Excel++. You can use it the same as Excel and also make …

Chose Smartsheet

Chose Smartsheet
Asana and monday.com are typical project management tools where resources can be tracked based on the tasks, etc. Smartsheet does exactly the same but additionally allows people outside of PM to automate their data collaboration with other employees. The solutions that …
Chose Smartsheet
Jira is better on user interface and task tracking. However the dashboard isn't as versatile as on Smartsheet. That being said, it takes maintenance to keep the Smartsheet dashboard updated regularly (not automated).

We used Smartsheet primarily because a customer was already using the tool. We typically use Microsoft Project since most of our customers and team are familiar with the tool.
Chose Smartsheet
I liked Smartsheet for the ease of use and simplicity. Having a view in Gantt chart is great and very helpful. Being able to invite multiple people and have everyone collaborate was useful. It made my life as a manager of projects much much easier and saved me a lot of time …
Chose Smartsheet
Smartsheet is very robust, and allows much more customization. It is not as user friendly, and takes more time to understand and get used to. Smartsheet integrates with just about all of these other tools. One of the best things about Smartsheet is that it can integrate with …
Chose Smartsheet

Asana
Asana fixed team issues like project transparency and communication, improved team performance, and enhanced office and mobile productivity. Upper management can solve project management issues quickly, and new hires can use the tool immediately. Asana's surveys simplify research and data collection. Its free trial, free plan, or paid SaaS subscription gives small and large teams the tools and centralized console to work through project tasks efficiently. Due to its complexity, Asana can be overwhelming at first.

For teams and users who are very familiar with Excel and its mode of operation, Smartsheet will feel like a walkover. If you have a number of users who use Excel or Google Sheets for their personal project management then you will find this tool to be very useful and somewhat familiar.
Teams that may be used to other project management suites or styles would find Smartsheet a bit challenging to adapt to, as formulas and formatting can be challenging to adapt to.

Cons
Asana
  • Asana is not really a project management tool, it is good for simple projects only

  • No reminders if the working period you entered is on holidays

  • The billing model is awful for small businesses! monday.com makes you feel like they are doing you a favour. You literally pay for seats you don't use. The billing model should be a per seat model!
  • There are too many addons from monday.com and 3rd party vendors that you have to pay for. The value of those addons is debatable are often rebuildable outside of monday.com in a single use spreadsheet (which pay monthly for an addon that you only need to use once in a while?) or organisations are already using something else in their tech stack for that addon.

  • Smartsheet set up is similar to Excel, yet when you upload an Excel file, things like conditional formatting are lost. Smartsheet has its own conditional formatting, and you have to reinstate the rules. It would be great if those would apply automatically once a file is uploaded
  • Some Smartsheet management and access rules can take some tweaking to work properly. This may be a case of offering more info to admins so they can apply these better and with more efficiency

Usability
Asana
It is very user-friendly. Takes a new employee an hour to start figuring out how the system works. That's an important factor. You don't want to encounter the issue where employees need a week to understand how the system works. For example, JIRA, I tried using it for a week and I still don't understand the complicated layout. Asana has a simple interface. Once you see it, you get it type of program.

I give this rating because it fills a niche in the market. MS Project scares many away from proper task management but there are limited tools our there, especially cloud-based that are mobile-friendly. Smartsheet fills this market gap, especially for small to medium-sized businesses. IT is not fair to compare it to MS Project, but fairer to see what gaps it fills.

  • Project coordination - Allows me to assign tasks to my interns and communicate directly within the platform to keep the work train moving.
