Autodesk ShotGrid vs. ZenTao

ShotGrid seems to be well suited for a video team for reviews and project tracking. It may not be well suited for Project managers who need to see the bigger picture of the project.

I am very glad about the working speed of this tool. The comfort and support it has provided us in project management are worth appreciating because Project management is a big deal and using ZenTao has made it easy and fun for us as we can as a team better collaborate. But some of its features need to be fixed.

• Uploads videos efficiently
• allows annotation within the video
• setting custom filters
• creating Gantt chart with inputs from each editor and animator
• adding versions to shot/asset
• adding assets to a shot

• Story could be linked with product, sprint, test case, bug, which makes traceability so great.
• Test module, with test case, case library, test request, test report, very detailed.
• On-Premise available, the package is very small based on LAMPP
• SaaS version even cheaper without your own IT maintenance support.
• Price really affordable.
• API call is easy, so that we could do customizations.

• Ordering comments made by different people by timecode/frame number, instead by the time and date the comment was made
• Being able to move an uploaded video from shots to assets and vice versa. Right now we have to re-upload but lose any comments made already if they were in the wrong place
• Custom filters are great but they could get a little confusing with all the options. Might help with guidelines or a place we could ask what we want and someone could answer with the best way to achieve those specific filters we want

• The function of ZenTao mobile version is a little weak.
• ZenTao users need to receive training before they start using the software, because for testers, the first use of the software may be a little complicated, and they cannot execute the same test case multiple times in the same test execution process.
• Although there are many reports built in. But if you want to get the data yourself，You have to know how to write SQL to customize your reports, which can a little bit challenging.

For education, we can't see ourselves using anything else that comes at a cost

It's UI/UX is very robust. There's a lot of functionality but it's not very intuitive or intuitive. I spend time with new hires and contractors to overview ShotGrid for a day and revisit after a week or two. Questions always arise down the line

Wipster had limitations on video uploads, which was a major drawback. One thing we liked with Wipster was how we can see comments made in order on the timeline while watching the video.

ZenTao defines bugs, tasks, and stories separately, not just an ISSUE. I can oversee the development from creating a Product Backlog to releasing the increment. I can also collect and record product feedback from the client and share with my team.

• We spend less time going back and forth with different stakeholders on shots and assets
• We don't have to pay services that only provided trial versions
• There is unlimited video uploading which was not the case with wiz

• We are delivering projects on time and can keep an eye on the progress of our projects.
• My team and I can better communicate on a project.
• As it is [in my experience], buggy it sometimes results in disturbing the whole working of our company.
