BMC Helix ITSM replaces Remedy. It is a broad suite of ITSM, tools with strong integrations to other BMC tools and in-built ITAM. The product is used mainly by global brands and is offered in on-premise and SaaS configurations.

SAP ERP is an enterprise suite comprising Financials (A/P, A/R, accounting, reporting, risk management, etc.), Human Capital Management (HR and Payroll), and Operations (procurement, manufacturing, sales & service). This is an enterprise level product designed for large organizations.
Large complex organisation, with complex technology that needs to manage Technology Services. It is very flexible and able to manage a large complex environment but the knowledge required to set this up correctly (foundation data and configuration) is the key factor for success. It can integrate with many other systems and tools and integrate data from many sources - whether that be AWS cloud, or an on premises bespoke system. I would not recommend for a Small Organisation without the resources to set up and maintain the underlying foundation data and configuration.
The availability of the leading and non-leading ledgers meets our financial reporting requirements and helps us fulfill both the stock exchange requirements at the parent company level and country-specific requirements at the operating entity level. In addition, the Open Item Managed Account feature ensures that reporting teams optimize their efforts on subsystem-driven accounts to achieve accounting concurrency.
Integration with monitoring software like SolarWinds. where Remedy can transform notifications to work orders and assign to respective teams.
Detailed Customization capability to fit the exact needs of the organization.
Change management calendar, which integrates change orders from all organization departments and facilitates the scheduling process of project managers.
It can be offered as a cloud-based service, where you don't need to worry about server maintenance or database backup.
Organizational resource management and integration of different departments with each other as a software automation
We have Access to all insights and analytics data from anywhere
It doesn't matter how big your organization is, it supports everything from small companies to giant high-tech organizations, and they all have access to data at very high speeds.
If you use the web and cloud version, the initial costs will be greatly reduced and even a small start-up small company can enjoy the benefits of SAP ERP.
The interface (ironically). My company has made an attempt to replace the "classic" Remedy interface with some more functional, modern, but Remedy set to a particular look and feel (and consequently, functionality)
The API is hidden from the user: There exists an API for Remedy, that would make my job TONS easier, as I like to perform actions on Remedy in bulk (and therefore - programmatically). Exposing a user API is very much mainstream these days, so Remedy relying on its interface to perform ITIL is very limiting
By extension- the result of Remedy's interface is that it becomes very "click-happy": little buttons, and links stuffed into every corner of the screen, with options API logically together. API is old, but it still feels very rushed.
The primary tool for most of my ITIL operations is: searching. API of searching goes into finding assets, checking in equipment, finding users, tickets, etc. What Remedy could very much benefit from a "Google" -like interface
SAP sometimes gets slow whenever most of the people in the company simultaneously use it
Hopefully they would extend background job processing to all tables in SAP since it sometimes goes time out whenever extracting large historical data (ex. 5 years expense data)
The cost of SAP as an ERP is quite high and the switching costs associated with ERP systems are even higher. That being said moving from one ERP to another only happens once in a great while for large organizations. Those switching costs include retraining, IT hardware requirements, outside consultants and more
At least Remedy is all contained in a single platform, so the interface is consistent. Also, the most heavily performed functions are generally usable. However, to use some of the more advanced modules can be a bit more cumbersome (such as Change Management and CMDB (Not Including ADDM)). So, overall BMC Remedy ITSM is better than some applications like CA SDM or HP SM, but not quite on par with ServiceNow.
It is worth my time as far as my concern I just loved the product and it has saved me from many problems that I used to [deal] with earlier overall it has [enhanced] my work efficiency that is why I am happy to give this rating to this product Also I loved the features and worth my working skills.
The support is good in overall resolving the issues and even in the deployment phase. We are able to use it in production without any trained in-house engineer as the support team gets the job done. We can say that experts completed the deployment for us, and now it is functional.
Well, I've had several scenarios where it was evident that they simply buy time. At the same time, their Product Support and Implementation teams are most likely not in sync. What's said by a member of implementation may not hold good when you refer the same thing with a member of the support team.
There are online courses available from SAP called openSAP courses which can be used as a learning tool. Apart from it, SAP trainers can be arranged at an additional cost to train in person.
Implementation of SAP ERP is actually taken up with phases, and every phase has a business purpose. Mostly every implementation goes well with the Golive, and support during HyperCare ensures that all issues raised post golive are fixed before going into Maintenance mode
The decision to select BMC Remedy was made prior to my employment. We did conduct an RFC process for a new ITSM platform and BMC was considered but not selected. We looked at several platforms and ended up choosing Ivanti Service Desk (previously LANDESK) due to the features, ease of customization and price.
SAP is totally integrated as are many of its greatest competitors, but the level of detail in the integration between modules puts SAP heads and shoulders above all others. Granted, the SAP implementation can be much more difficult to perform, but in the long run, the amount of effort you put in will result in excellent usability. After using Oracle's E-Business Suite for over 20 years, we did a due diligence search that lasted over 18 months before making a decision to go with SAP. This was a result of our Oracle system being made "un-upgradeable" due to a custom module that Oracle Consulting actually built for us. We were stuck in an old version of their database that would not work upon patching to the next version.
When I was in Management discussion calls, and all the team is happy while using BMC Remedy so I don't find any specific negative impact on our organization.
I really enjoy Smart IT as the tool of choice for our incident management team.
Visibility of tickets is key. All support staff users can see tickets in consoles they have access to.
