Likelihood to Recommend

Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Access Points

Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Access Points is very useful for outdoor locations that are more exposed to the wilderness or the weather, which provides uninterrupted wifi access during high winds and bad weather. It also is useful for hazardous locations that are prone to danger or wildlife. Unfortunately, it would not be appropriate to get a Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Access Point if it is only needed for basic wifi use, or indoor use, as the extra features and price would not be necessary.

Cisco Embedded Wireless Controller

Unless you're a mega corporation, most mid size to large companies could use a few of these guys around to balance the wireless load a bit. I could recommend it to someone looking for a relatively cheap set of devices that can alleviate some of the strain on the network backbone that services your wireless systems.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Access Points

The Cisco Aironet 1560 Series Access Point is very similar to the Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Access Point, but it has many differences too. The Cisco Aironet 1560 Series Access Points is made for more of an indoor use and less heavy-duty environments which leads to it being smaller and lighter. The Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Access Point is used for more of an outdoor use and heavy-duty environments which leads to it being much larger and heavier. Overall, if indoor use is required, I would recommend the 1560, but if outdoor use in hazardous and bad weather locations is required, I would recommend the 1550.
