Clumio vs. Veeam Backup for Azure

If you are in a highly virtualized infrastructure, Clumio is the only choice right now. It was built in the cloud, for the cloud, and handles on-premise environments very well. If your environment is lots of physical servers or lots of database servers, maybe start with a slower rollout of Clumio, but do not go with something else. Clumio is the answer to backup, now and in the future!

Veeam Backup for Azure is only suited for Microsoft Azure backups. It can back up anything you house in 365 and give you pretty any scenario for recovery if needed. the only challenge i see is if you need to restore something from a year or more ago. Microsoft will have changed the cloud platform and i could see issues in what and how to restore old documents, and configuration. It may require a microsoft ticket which is time consuming to get the right team and accurate help.

• the only thing I wish that Veeam would do is the ability to combine all services in one platform. We have another backup solution we use for on prem backups to an offline cloud backup source. I wish Veeam had a solution like this, they are implementing Azure resources for backups currently and store in AWS so there is a separation of where data is stored and is offline with ransomware protection. Maybe one day.

This high rating is due to the ease of implementation and the simplicity of the backup and recovery process, as well as the wide range of features and advanced functions for managing backups. Veeam Backup for Azure also features a well-organized and intuitive user interface that makes it easy to navigate and complete tasks. Additionally, its ability to integrate with other Veeam products, such as Veeam Backup & Replication, also improves its usability and flexibility.

Clumio support thas been both responsive, definitive, and helpful. They have been great to deal with as we have worked our way from Proof of Concept, to production roll out. They are quick to answer emails, and also alert us when they see a potential issue. These new "proactive" vendor support models are great to experience

There was nothing like Clumio to evaluate. We did look at some of the incumbent on-premise solutions that have cloud-based offerings. They all require hardware infrastructures to accomplish their job, thereby locking you into having to manage and update hardware. Clumio displaces these systems by offering a true cloud-based backup with no need to manage hardware, or maintain hardware, or manage software upgrades. And new features are added all the time without having to upgrade!

We were already using an older version of Veeam in one data center, so the only other solution we really looked at for the Azure side was the free Microsoft Azure Backup Server and it was way too slow and clunky, as well as crashed constantly so it was definitely not worthy of looking into further.
