Fin comes with a 90-day money-back guarantee. Here's how it works:
Intercom states that users who sign up for the Fin Guarantee Success Program and do not achieve at least a resolution rate of 65% will be paid $1M. This program is designed for high volume customers.
Eligibility criteria:
High volume customers (over 250k monthly conversions) in North America and Europe. Intercom states that phase one of this program will admit customers on Intercom Helpdesk or Zendesk.
When we first started our business, we were looking for a tool to communicate with our website visitors and users. We first used Mailchimp as it was free. But then we heard about Gist and for a very nominal charge, it offered so much more like live chat, email marketing, lead …
The look is much cleaner and there are more options. Also, we got a very good price to use the tool. We were using Mailchimp for free and switched to Gist when we took the next level and got more professional. We are very happy with this decision and will keep working with it.
Gist combines the core of Intercom, Mailchimp and AWeber and the power of the combination extends the use cases by a large degree. On top of these, the knowledgebase feature and bot combine to great effect.
Mailchimp is great but did not offer the chat feature. ActiveCampaign's price point was too high. LiveChat was cool but did not offer the all-in-one platform that Gist gives. I think Gist will catch up to ActiveCampaign in about another year. Mailchimp is just on another level …

I started out looking at simple marketing automation platforms such as Mailchimp, then moved to an advanced package from HubSpot (trial) to see if it was right for me. The latter turned out to be very expensive, although it is a great platform.
I preferred Gist over Mailchimp because Gist allows me to automatically tag customers based on actions they've performed on the website, while Mailchimp requires me to do this type of tagging manually.
Mailchimp has more to offer and is easier to use, and is more self-explanatory, especially if you start with the free version. You don't get support with Mailchimp if you use the free plan.
You can do everything you can with AC or Mailchimp (minus dynamic cart recovery for ecom) at a fraction of the cost, and you can do MORE -- better integration with FB ads than Mailchimp, more powerful workflows, unified inboxes, live chat and chatbot, etc. It's just a more …
Gist is slightly slower than ActiveCampaign but MUCH easier to use than Mailchimp. Overall, you can't beat the bang for the buck you get with Gist. And its messenger bot is the best I've used, it works on not only our main site but also our subdomains, kicking the competition …
Gist is a much more robust software with a variety of marketing tools in its arsenal. Things like website tracking is also extremely robust and it has many more features.
The ease of setup is also more enjoyable and intuitive in Gist so the overall result is that you can learn …
I have a lifetime deal with Gist so I may be a bit biased, but Gist is quite easy to use and has a free tier so it's worth a serious look compared to the other players on the market. Personal preference does play a big role in your final decision, as feature-wise, Gist has most …
Gist has a lot of tools that all email marketing tools generally have such as workflows, forms, drip campaigns, and general email broadcasting, the difference is Gist always goes one step further to make their tools better, it's these little things that made as choose Gist.
Gist combines all our previous products into one application and adds many more features that would require more apps. Gist is excellent and a no-brainer all-in-one application when compared to having to manage multiple applications at higher cost. The support from the whole …

Gist has so many tools in one package it is hard to compare. If you need chat, email, remarketing, automated marketing, live view of your site, knowledge-base, bots, scheduler, and more, then it will take multiple tools. Gist is great because you get to install one tool on your …
While Gist may not win a head-to-head against any of these products in their specific sphere of operation, it competes well and has the added benefit everything else being built-in. This enables powerful and fast automation with minimal setup time and tinkering around to ensure …
To begin with, the attitude in all these well-established brands is absolutely horrendous as they think they run the world. Gist is so friendly and every time I have spoken to anyone of them they all take it personally and help you to the end. I have even been helped many times …
It is more customizable and brings new features not available in other software. Gist is also a new start-up with a new vision and their customer service is just superb. We choose Gist because of the variety of features at an affordable price, tested it, and saw a return on …

Mailchimp is better for layout and beginning user due to its accessibility. It's easier to build mass audiences, and formatting templates.
We used to use HubSpot to communicate with leads via their live chat tool and also message our client points of contact. We then used Mailchimp to communicate with our entire user-base. With Intercom we no longer need either of those tools.
To compete with Salesforce, the main point is the pricing. Intercom has a very different budget when it comes to start ups and up and coming companies, which helps. To compete with other platforms, Intercom has a more developed interface and a super completa arrange of tools, …
Zendesk was very slow and clunky to operate. The system often bugged out and the assigning of emails was poor at best, once assigned it would be very hard to find that ticket again unless it was assigned to you directly. The search function and live chat function of Zendesk were …
Intercom, although significantly more expensive than Zendesk, is just simpler and easier to use. The startup easing in for me was an absolute necessity also. In a technical sense, I feel that api access via intercom is such a necessity also, and will be more so as we evolve, …
It was a difficult comparision but we sticked to Intercom because of the overall chat interface that it provides. On top of that, Intercom has a great appstore to integrate the products that we were using earlier.
We selected Intercom because at the time, it was the only tool available that offered inbox functionality, help docs, and campaign features all in one product. We stayed with them for so long, despite the convoluted and expensive pricing, because it would have been equally …
Both Intercom and Drift are comparable in terms of their abilities. Although Intercom came into the market first, Drift has done well to keep up with Intercom's updates and offer similar services of its own. Intercom edges out Drift in terms of its abilities and wealth of …
More powerful and more costly than Drift thanks to its incredible UI and mobile application. Less feature-rich, but more cost-effective for small startups than Zendesk.
We still use some of the above for specific tasks, but overall it comes down to being able to do much of the above in a single portal, as a team. Time and quality is of the essence, and Intercom is built for scale which as a tech business is hugely appealing.
I have used a lot of email marketing tools over the years and Intuit Mailchimp is one that I keep going back to, it simple and easy to use, no messing around and it does what it says one tin.
Mailchimp is a great introductory email marketing system that offers more than just email marketing. If you're looking for more of a well rounded system that you can use for your website, basic ads, and email marketing, Mailchimp is a great platform that offers a little of …
If your marketing model is selling products, services, or SAAS where you are doing inbound marketing and your website will do most of the lead generation and conversion, this is a great product. From live chat, support, event tracking, and automation, you could almost put your entire business on autopilot. If your marketing model is mostly outreach to cold leads and conversion, this software currently does not have any type of sales stages or task generation. I would still use Gist for website inbound but use another software for outreach and cold leads then when they become a lead put them into Gist for marketing automation.
Fin is great for using for first line support. We use Fin for conversations where customers have a standard question, and Fin is able to pull from our content to answer this accurately and go above and beyond to include some basic problem solving. This really helps us free up our Support Team's time for more complex queries. Fin isn't appropriate for us on technical issues or conversations which require human support. We've had to remove Fin from interacting on these conversations as customers were becoming frustrated with speaking to AI, or having Fin be unable to problem solve. However, this was easy to set up through Intercom, and now customers with complex questions/situations or bugs/technical issues do not engage with Fin and Fin only handles suitable conversations.
For any E-commerce related needs, like you need to see a list of customers who have added products to cart but did not purchase, this can be done really easily, but if your e-commerce provider provides integration, then it is best suited. Most of the systems in the Market provide out-of-the-box integration. Their API is also very easy it can be integrated to any language. You can integrate it into your custom developed system and use the features, like adding customers to specific lists. Also, if your lists become really big, then their system can get a bit slow to respond via API, so you might need a strategy for how you are gonna fetch the data using API.
Customer service via a unified inbox so you dont have to separately monitor your twitter, Facebook or IG account for consumer communication there. Gist unified all into one inbox, better than anyone else I've seen in the market. They archive all communications and tie them back to a single user so you get unified customer history / data.
Marketing segmentation and automation: they track user history and behavior across the site and have super detailed segmenting capability, on par with ActiveCampaign's, but better I'd say. Better UI for the marketing admin person, and more unified data than in AC.
Live chat and chatbot. Usually it's either one or the other but with Gist you can do both seamlessly.
Mailchimp allows you to manage your mailing list really well. You can subscribe people, unsubscribe people manage the mailing list directly into segments, and what not.
Mailchimp has features where you can create campaigns based on your mailing lists and send out newsletters to your subscribers based on a multitude of parameters that you can setup. Such as send email daily, weekly, monthly and they also have event based mails that you can send out.
Mailchimp also has a feature where you can design your emails. The look and aesthetics are very important when sending emails to your subscribers and all those needs are addressed here.
Plan limits can be confusing. For example, there is a monthly charge for support and a monthly charge for "growth," plus there's a separate charge depending on how many contacts and seats you have. Perhaps this is normal in the industry, but it can make it a little challenging to understand the bill every month.
The vast amount of features means development will never be as fast as you'd like it to be (even though they release updates all the time). This may not actually be a valid concern, and it certainly isn't unique to Gist (who doesn't have a wishlist they're waiting on their favorite SaaS to get to?), but I do believe the likelihood of being stuck without your desired feature being developed goes up a lot as the product gets bigger and bigger.
Email deliverability has been less than perfect in the past, but it has improved drastically in the last year.
It seems some users really struggle to figure out how to escalate to a human (especially through email).
Not excited about how "soft" resolutions still count as resolutions and are paid for. Though some abandoned cases appear to be able to be concluded as "the user got the answer they needed", there are others where they clearly didn't, because they just open up another chat (or even more), trying to get more info. This pads the resolution stats and makes it seem more effective than it actually is.
Cost -- Fin is quite expensive. It helps us with scaling coverage, but we're not really saving money.
Gist is a quite reliable service with a lot of added values. We don't need to pay for different Saas for these important features. If I had an issue the team was super responsive and helpful, that is essential for every business. The email delivery is great, so virtually no email has landed into spam folder
We have been and will be continuing our journey with Intercom and nothing too concerning has happened that I have experienced or heard of that has us on the edge yet. If it ever happens it will be something along the lines of "Outgrowing" the use of need of the platform.
We've had Mailchimp for about ten years, I want to say. I started with the company about four years ago, and I don't see us ever diverting to another source. It's easy for us to use, and we have all our clients already built into the database. I imagine we'll use them for as long as we have the company.
It’s pretty simple, but it does a lot so there are more complicated features which depend on an individuals ability for software implementation. I am not an IT expert and I’ve managed to implement everything myself, others that are more tech-minded may find everything easier.
From an administration standpoint, Fin is very easy to set up, train, and test. Having the ability to impersonate a user in our system to see how Fin responds is huge. It lets you test several situations and throw curveballs at it (as customers will) without the risk of setting Fin live and wondering what will happen. It's also easy to fine-tune. Some chatbots you can never quite get right without spending hours on, but Fin usually takes a few minutes to dial it in. From a customer standpoint, Fin couldn't be easier to engage with. We tell customers up front it's an AI bot and they're wow'd with the experience
The interface is a bit complicated, and I need to spend some time to learn new functions and understanding how it works. I don't like working with email templates because of the limited customization options. However, functions like AI for generating emails, segmentation, and analytics still work well and are very useful.
I have, in the 4+ years that I've used Mailchimp, never seen an issue that restricted the use of their software/tools. I don't know of a single time when they're system crashed or went down. I could be wrong, but I honestly haven't experienced any issues with outages, errors or unplanned downtime
I haven't noticed any slow speeds from Mailchimp or their tools. I think the landing pages load quickly and look nice. The email reports and editing operates smoothly and doesn't take time to load. Additionally, when I use Mailchimp in conjunction with Zapier + Hubspot I don't notice any drag between any of these tools
Fantastic support. Ask a question, get an answer within 24 hours every time. And sometimes within a few minutes. They've always come through for me, helpful and, even when it's an issue on my end, they point me in the right direction.
Intercom is the premier customer support/engagement model and it definitely has one of the top tier customer support teams as well. I don't think I have ever waited more than 5 minutes to get the information I need or get help with an issue. They are incredible and I aim to model our customer service department after them.
Website tools were easy to use and understand so a novice can easily meet or exceed their client's expectations! Loved that we were able to totally customize so that the e-mail we created conveyed our client's overall messaging consistent with their branding! Client love that we can provide turnkey services to support their sales and marketing teams!
It's pretty easy to get up and running! There's a slight learning curve on a few things, but once you find where everything is located, you can import your list and send your first email. It really makes our clients feel great to see how quickly they can get that first email out.
Gist combines all our previous products into one application and adds many more features that would require more apps. Gist is excellent and a no-brainer all-in-one application when compared to having to manage multiple applications at higher cost. The support from the whole Gist team has been extremely responsive.
We only used the free live chat version from HubSpot, so Intercom is yards better! If I were just comparing an actual live chat between the two tools, HubSpot was often clunky and delayed, and it was hard to find past conversation information
I don't think they are comparable; we use Google Ads to put our website at the top of the list when someone googles certain words. We use meta business to manage our social media. Google aims to gain customers, while Mailchimp is used to interact with both existing and new customers.
Mailchimp over the years I've used it has grown in leaps and bounds. They have added so many additional features than were previously available. They are truly an all-in-one marketing platform now. If you're a small operation and just want to add email to your marketing efforts, they're there for you. If you're a larger operation and want to start sending postcard advertisements, they can do that. If you'd good with that and want to kick up your marketing by going social, you can do that on their platform. They are truly able to be as small as you need, but also get quite large in whatever it is you'd like to do through their system.
They are perfect for me as a someone who needs a lot of bang for the buck. The chat messenger device on my website alone has brought me new prospects that I did not have to spend money recruiting.
I am able to save hours of time with the automated emails that are GDPR compliant.
I don't have to pay for a designer to have excellent looking emails either.
New role opportunities — Using the “Fin-first” approach has reduced the workload for our Tier 1 team, giving them more time to focus on their own career growth. It’s also opened the door to a dedicated, AI-focused role, where a team member regularly reviews Fin’s answers and makes updates to help it perform even better.
Enabling Fin has also reduced our response time and allowed us to meet SLA's.
One of my retail web store clients was sending out email specials and notices about once a month. After clicking the send button, we would watch Google Analytics and the current site users would light up immediately. Often, the current site visitors would pop up to 20, 30 or more after the email was sent. On a normal day, seeing 1 or 2 online users would be OK.
Pretty much in all cases, we could see an uptick in positive activity after sending out a Intuit Mailchimp email to a list.
