Logi's pricing was developed with software vendors in mind and as such, we offer flexible, custom pricing aligned with your go-to-market approach and long-term growth plans. Our pricing objective is to ensure our partners can rapidly scale their analytics.
We needed to be able to deploy in a Linux environment which ruled out some other vendors. Ultimately we determined the deployment, ease of use, and licensing all favored Logi Analytics above the others.
We test drove a lot of the big hitters, Pentaho, Sisense, Tableau, Jasper, Spago, Birt, Knime, Power BI and while most of them did a lot of things very well, but none did exactly what we were looking for without a lot of downsides (more developers, bolting on extra modules …
It has been a while since we ran our evaluations, but I recall presenting the feature set for Logi with some samples created in-house against some from other vendors. Not only was Logi Info easier to learn and use out of the box, but the pricing for our use case was so …
Well Suited - It's very easy for a non-developer to make clear/easily understood important data displays Great options for displaying data, UI provides great assistance helping you determine what chart, graph etc., to utilize for peak output. Saves tons of developer hours by allowing non-developers to be able to create and design things. Less Suited - It's not a big fan of displaying 1000 page PDFs but with adequate setup and drill downs, you can turn that huge PDF into 2 pages of what you actually need.
I used this tool for a complex ETL problem where we fetched data from APIs, SQL, and Oracle. We merged and created a complex job which was able to fulfill our requirements and was able to make better business decisions based on the trends from the data. Sometimes, it's very hard to optimize jobs if you didn't work on this or similar ETL tools in past but I enjoyed it and made the best out of it.
The ability to easily integrate data across multiple data platforms
The product is easy to implement and learn
The elemental design allows for recycling of concepts and features across various reports and output
The security was easy to implement into our existing environment
The number of options available for data manipulation and presentation, including Scheduling and Caching data, makes it easy to solve any problem or create content for any request
Logi's Support Portal staff are absolutely top notch. They are responsive and knowledgeable. Due to the elemental design (see above), it is easy to communicate concepts to and from Logi Support via code samples and/or sample applications. The sample applications which we have received from Logi Support have formed some of the core concepts of our Logi Developer training!
Logi Studio is currently only available on Windows. I understand the backend is ASP.net but it would be nice to have more flexibility in this given their software can also be java-based (we run their software on a Linux server using java).
Logi Info keeps all files as XML, which is fine and actually helps in terms of scripting report creation. The issue is that the majority of settings can only live on a server instead of a database. They do allow reports to now live in a database, but other aspects (such as users saving bookmarks and reports) cannot be and are all saved directly on the server.
I think the relative obscurity of the tool is a downside, not as many developers, consultants or peers you can tap into.
Lack of a solid user community held us back, looking at Power BI and Qlik, they have huge user communities that help each other out. Would have liked that here.
Smaller company means smaller sales force, and the lack of a local presence made it hard to only interact online with the account rep. Other companies have someone local who often stops by with pre-sales developers to just pitch in free of charge when they have time.
Logi Analytics is a great solution if you need just the user interface. However there are other tools stronger at the overall data flow which include a user interface as part of their product.
I will use Pentaho until I find a better tool with a better, easier to use report designer client. For now, Pentaho has been the most powerful reporting tool for our clients because of its ability to connect to Odoo, integrate in Odoo (reports are accessible in Odoo) and the flexibility in report design and parameter integration
I am giving 9 rating because the Logi Info still needs to improve on the tutorials part and make it easy for the beginners. Otherwise, it's a very good analytics tool which offers more than 20 types of visualization. It's predictive analysis feature and easy to embed with technologies make it stand out in the market.
The software's ability to mine, extract & convert data into a readable actionable format works very well for organizations like ours & minimizes the risk of human error. It helps in automating daily tasks & saves a lot of time which in turn can be better utilized to analyze that data. Pentaho also helps in creating models out of said data which can be directly used to get to pain points.
The support process is bit slow and has a good scope improvement but overall it's good as team is very supportive. They generally take 1-2 days time to respond emails sent to them but some times a delay is also expected. Overall, I did not face any major issues using the service.
Pentaho's customer support team was one of the best I've ever seen, both from the documentation as from the engineering point of view. In cases when a critical issue related to security or performance was found, the multiple developer teams would change priorities to have them fixed as soon as possible with the next release, making our customers and users, in general, happy and satisfied. Sometimes enterprise customers would have some issues which would require some hot-fixing, and in most cases, the problems would be solved diligently.
Course Taken: DI1000 Pentaho Data Integration Fundamentals Setup A week before your class started, the instructor will start sending out class material and lab setup instructions. This is helpful so that you understand how the environment is laid out and can start reviewing the content. Ultimately it saved about a 1/2 day trying to setup with 10 other people online which was great! The Course The 3-day course was laid out like many other technical classes with 15-30 minutes instruction and 15-60 minutes of lab exercises. The instructor was very knowledgeable with the functionality from version to version and answered questions as we went along. I was amazed at some of the functionality that was available that I was not using at the time and quickly implemented changes to many existing transformations and jobs. The novice users seemed to catch on quickly and more experienced users explained how some of the functionality was used in their home environments. Towards the end there was enough time so that we were able to ask very directed questions about our own environments. Overall, I really found the class to be informative and deliver enough information to be dangerous. My skills improved and I was able to design better and efficient transformations for the HIE. Get the right people in before starting implementation. Start small and build as you go approach is time consuming and involves lot of rework. Evangalize within the organization the capabilities and limitations equally so that correct delivery expectations are set. Set expectations with the Customer that the tool cannot replace proprietary software in terms of stability/usability and that timelines could change given the new ness of the product.
It can be embedded on top of a website for direct analysis. I feel this is a way faster and a better solution. This is like an integrated solution. That's why the firm selected Logi Analytics for quick insights on customer behavior and data.
Since the Pentaho platform offers a range of broad functionality across data preparation and advanced analytics, it also can be easily integrated to support many data sources and machine-learning frameworks. Based on that fact, we selected Pentaho to be used in our internal department. It also supports many of our BI use cases as required by company management or the business user. Last but not least, the Pentaho license is cheaper than their competitor.
Our Chief Operations Officer has commented several times about how important LOGI has been in identifying opportunities for us to work on, and key areas to focus on to improve revenue generation
We have used LOGI to automate work processes that used to be paper-based.
We've filled in holes in work processes, and freed up work hours allowing people to focus on more important daily tasks.
