SolarWinds NPM is a monitoring and performance management platform. It provides performance troubleshooting support, auto network discovery, customizable thresholds, and can be rapidly deployed.
Solarwinds can successfully combine pros of the other monitoring systems and be more user friendly, simple and intuitive. The list of NPM cons is not so big and most of its point can be compensated by customization (Solarwinds created a great expert community for it). The …
We use NPM along with PRTG Network Monitor. While NPM is great at monitoring network devices and network links and some aspects of the servers, PRTG provides more in-depth monitoring for Server systems, applications and application ports such as Web Ports etc. PRTG also …
PRTG has been a very old tool that was good for plotting the utilization graphs of interfaces but lacked comprehensive device views, overall end-to-end dashboards, comprehensive reports, and alerting functions. WhatsUpGold lacked comprehensive Dashboards, Alerts, and Reporting …
SolarWinds NPM stacks up very well to the competition and is superior in many ways as it has the ability to monitor more information than the competition.
SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor is dedicated to network devices so it's really efficient, Zabbix or PRTG are trying to do too many things and it's very complicated to achieve same things as with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor.
SolarWinds was much more flexible than other solutions, including Cisco Prime and that's why we ended up converting most of our environmental monitoring over to SolarWinds NPM. We still use Cisco Prime for wireless monitoring for the time being but may eventually transition …
We use all of these at the moment just because we haven't found one that does everything we like. For products like the Aruba Wifi we mainly use Airwave to monitor. For our network switches, we mainly use the Extreme Management Console. Because these are products directly from …
We selected SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor because of the capabilities of the product versus the price. The tools also work well with their other products and support is fairly good. We have never had a problem when we needed to make a call.
SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM) was selected due to its reliability of performance, dependability of the product, and availability of tools and features for network monitoring and management. SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM) reputation and overall cost …
We evaluated PRTG Network Monitor which was similar to SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor but was very resource-intensive, and the server kept crashing when we got close to 100 devices. Whereas on SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor, we were able to add several …
We had to migrate to Solarwinds as our current tool was not providing sufficient information and its alerting and reporting was not very fruitful for us.
We tested Observium as an alternative to Solarwinds in the past and it required all host to be added by DNS instead of IP addresses which we prefer. We have over 2000 devices so creating DNS records for all of these was a deal breaker.
SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor (NPM) can easily
and effectively monitor application and system performance by combining all
data into a single view. It is extremely scalable and provides the visualization needed to monitor your entire infrastructure.
SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor was chosen at Finastra before I got here however I have weighed the value of SolarWinds against competitors such as Netcool, ManageEngine OP manager, Nagios and NetApp and Splunk to mention a few. SolarWinds really shine when you …
Orion had more capabilities that were a better fit for our specific business and monitoring needs. OpManager had some good capabilities too, but required a specific edition that has a higher cost (multi-site feature). This may no longer be a requirement, I haven't researched it …
