All areas of business from accounting to project management to payroll. We replaced Viewpoint accounting with CMiC Construction Platform and much of what we were doing in Procore from a project management standpoint. We are in the process of getting rid of Procore entirely for CMiC Construction Platform. CMiC Construction Platform is a bit more powerfull in terms of reporting and meets out needs of a "one stop shop".
  • Custom Reporting
  • Access from anywhere
  • Journal Entries
  • Change Order management
  • Speed
  • In my opinion, converting is difficult to put it lightly
  • In my opinion, submitting cases can be slow to get solutions to issues that arise
CMiC Construction Platform is a good software for a one stop shop so to speak. We are very happy with the ability to do all of our project management functions like budgeting, cost reporting, subcontract and change order management, billing, etc. It is also a highly functioning accounting software. Previously we were using procore and viewpoint and the ERP was not always seemless so it is nice to have everything in one place. There are a lot of places where we can import and export data which makes life easier in many respects.

CMiC is used by FCL for tracking activities on commercial construction projects in Field and managing financial tasks in Enterprise. Activities include everything from buy-out to writing subcontracts and change orders to daily site journals and checklists. The system also stores information regarding project contacts, documents and drawings. The subcontract and change order amounts flow over to the Enterprise where CMiC is used to process subcontractor payments, general AP and AR, job billing to owners and charging labor time to jobs. CMiC is also used to forecast project progress and address potential issues proactively.
  • AP processing utilizing Image Manager
  • Budget and Cost Management in Field to process subcontracts and change orders
  • Security roles to manage access
  • Forecasting can be inconsistent depending on configuration
  • Security set up can be complicated and tedious
  • Job Billing can be inconsistent depending on configuration
CMiC is a robust platform best suited for large companies with resources for implementation and management of the program. One analogy is CMiC is like a droid phone where the user must decide how to use all the features of the program (as opposed to an iPhone where most configuration decisions are made for the user). Smaller companies with limited resources can struggle with CMiC both with the expense and configuration.

CMiC Construction Platform is our main accounting, payroll, asset management and field management program. It addresses the issue of information being in many different locations. It is used by all levels, divisions and departments at our company. Deletion of information is restricted to a few users and employees are restricted to the areas they primarily work in.
  • Tracks Costs
  • Reports Cost
  • Ties source records to additional records
  • In my experience, setup of program is very cumbersome. Multiple Consultants sessions are required at an additional cost to demonstrate how it could be setup. A more in-dept, strategic approach would be better then try and see approach.
  • Programming changes to the program cause issues in daily usage.
  • In my opinion, Support is lacking. Tickets can be submitted but many times the issue is not clearly understood. I think it would resolve issues more quickly to speak with someone rather than weeks of back and forth.
In my opinion, expect to invest a lot of money and time in getting the program up and running. Staff shortages are significant so implementation and resolution of issues is slow and frustrating. In my experience, upgrades haven't been smooth as daily operations are stopped until fixes are applied. Also, in my experience, integrations with third-party software, like Kofax, are problematic.
I have found that it's a several year process to get the programing going. I think, if it wasn't for the regular glitches the overall concept is commendable.

We use it from pipline planning to end of job, in the future we hope to start using it for warranty. Just by moving to this product we were able to double our workload and keep relatively the same number of staff, whereas before we were looking to hire more people. The workflows and MIP's create a large amount of efficiencies.
  • Workflows
  • Reports
  • Access
  • Ease of use
  • Daily Logs
  • Customizable Workflows
  • Easier to follow documentation
If you have more than 3 jobs running at once this is the ideal product, if you are only doing one or two jobs a year than I would look elsewhere as it might be overkill. However if you are looking to expand without taking on a lot of new staff this product can help with that.

Our company implemented CMiC to bring the field and corporate together on one consolidated platform. It is the primary Project Management and Accounting system for the company. We complete our payroll and union payroll reporting in CMiC. We also utilize the Equipment modules in CMiC for costing and billing. The job cost, subcontract commitments, and job billing data populate the contract forecasts, which flow into the WIP. We store some documents electronically in CMiC; however, many are outside the system.
  • It stores the company's main data in a central location.
  • In my opinion, Payroll support response times for critical issues are far longer than specified in the contract 90% of the time. Other issues have taken up to 18 months to resolve.
  • In my opinion, patches always break at least one existing functionality. Patches are a major issue for most companies using CMiC Enterprise or PAAS.
  • In my opinion, clients are responsible for testing ALL functionality used in every patch. Time demands are excessive.
  • In my opinion, CMiC trainers are often unknowledgeable. A few are good, but we received more than one trainer who was in their first or second week with CMiC.
  • I believe the description on CMiC's billable Contracts and Work Orders are purposefully short and deceptive about hidden costs. This has been a fight since day one and never improved.
  • In my opinion, users receive a ton of obscure error messages and may be system issues.
  • In my opinion, performance is often slow and problematic.
  • In my opinion, implementation takes over a year for the majority of companies. In our case, over two years.
  • In my experience, payroll tax reports were not fixed until right before or even on the due date.
  • In my experience, this ERP requires the company to have full-time people dedicated to the implementation, upgrades, patches, user training, and reporting/handling of support issues. The upgrade process had so many issues it became known as a downgrade at our company.
  • In my opinion, the customer success team was unhelpful.
  • In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform focuses on creating new features instead of fixing the existing features with problems.
  • In my opinion, CMiC does not listen and enact positive change.
  • In my opinion, promises are not kept.
In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform is not well-suited for companies unwilling to dedicate overly patient full-time people to supporting it. In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform is not well-suited for companies unprepared to spend more than originally expected to implement and support it. In my opinion, CMiC Construction Platform is generally more appropriate for large companies in the ENR top 100 willing to deal with long wait times and not worried about the cost. In my opinion, having a programmer on staff is necessary, but it is almost impossible to find one.

We use CMiC to manage the construction documents for all of our projects. This includes financial modules for billing clients and paying sub-trades. We manage the additional cost impact through the enterprise module, which affects the financial module keeping all costs in line. We use the platform across the whole organization, connecting our Projects Department and our Financial Department. This helps us ensure costs are updated in real-time and prevents confusion between the two departments. We also use the system with our field operations—documents are added as they are received and our Field Team is able to stay up to date with real-time information.
  • Cost management.
  • Meeting minutes.
  • Invoicing.
  • Contract management.
  • Change records management.
  • Document management.
CMiC is well suited for companies that have can integrate multiple departments with it. For example, we do not have to share cost status with our financial department—they have real-time access to it. This ensures that departments are retrieving real-time information and prevents a lag or misinformation between departments. CMiC would not be suitable for an organization that does not heavily depend on project management, with cost and document management being crucial parts of the business. For a financial-only company, CMiC has a very simple system and is not the best when creating reports for finances.

We use CMiC to manage real estate multifamily development projects. We highly rely on job cost tracking, invoice approval, and bill package functionalities to improve our efficiencies and recordkeeping. The system does have a learning curve but it has been very helpful overall considering we previously used QuickBooks to track everything.
  • Invoice approval.
  • Spent to date detail.
  • Draw package for lender.
  • Track subcontracts
  • Not very user-friendly.
  • Glitches often.
  • Financial reports
Very well-suited for construction, not so great for managing complex capital structure.

We use CMiC Construction Platform as our main project management tool. We run RFIs, submittals, and meeting minutes through it as well as tracking our project financials and change orders. CMiC Construction Platform is missing a drawing management module that most other construction software has.
  • Financial forecasting.
  • Document tracking.
  • Financial organization.
  • Labor forecasting--this should automatically update the forecast as each pay period rolls.
  • No drawing coordination.
  • More flexibility with documents. Meeting minutes are tough to organize in a flexible manner.
CMiC Construction Platform brings a good amount of horsepower for the program's cost. It definitely lacks some of the additional tools of more expensive products and is not the most user-friendly. However, once you learn the ins and outs, it can be a good asset.

Construction companies(clients) need a complete understanding of ongoing projects ( building construction). That includes, how much construction is completed, what are current tasks and applied human force, and the Inventory level. Also, planned activities/Tasks and it's allotment along with expected dates. CMiC Construction Platform Provides a complete picture of the project if required inputs provide the proper way. Labor/ Humanforce can easily understand what task they have been assigned and its tentative completion date.
  • Task Creation & Sub Task Creation
  • Logical Tasks Grouping
  • Tasks Implementation in sequential manner and parallels way
  • Vendor/Labor allotment on Tasks
  • For New user, it need time to understand the navigation & Control
  • Add to Favorite sort of functionality need to be added to access repeatedly accessing features
CMiC Construction Platform maintained a focus on automating functions – such as enterprise planning, human capital management, and asset management, field operations, project management & controls, and collaboration. Project information is on a real-time basis, so all information is always complete and accurate and this is the reason construction firms can keep multiple projects running smoothly, and on time, while better controlling their projects.

We are in the implementation phase for CMiC Field tools. We are replacing ProLog and adding mobile capability with CMiC. CMiC provides integrated project management modules that our current system does not offer. Our next phase is to implement mobile time tracking within CMiC, followed by contract forecasting.
  • Subcontract/PO management with Docusign integration
  • Submittal/RFI management
  • External partner portal for collaborators
  • Easy to use mobile tools
  • Forms/checklists feature unused because lacking basic functions
  • Submittal/RFI reviewer table as taken time to understand to fit our current processes
  • Some fields are hard coded which require UDF workaround
Well suited for companies that require a tailored system with the ability to make changes in-house as needed.

We use CMiC to run a large portion of our business, from tracking project budgets and costs, to HR, to equipment, and accounting. We run all invoices through workflows and can tie costs directly and instantly to jobs. We collect time and process payroll which also ties to our project costs. We take advantage of the subcontractor qualifications module as well as opportunity management to monitor subcontractors and track pursuits. We especially take advantage of the unified data structure and have created over 60 BI reports that we use to help monitor all of our departments. Our processes in CMiC allow us to collect clean data, which we use to help make decisions on how to run our business. The ease of access and consistency of good data is a great benefit to using CMiC.
  • Reasonable price for what it offers
  • Connected database, especially with accounting and operations
  • Ability to configure the platform to fit our business needs
  • Needs to be more user friendly on the mobile side of the platform. Ease of use is key here.
  • There is not much instruction or support in standing up some programs like deploying ECM for outlook, making Collaboration Gateway work, or setting up the system for getting Plans available on the mobile devices.
  • Security configuration is extremely detailed and spread throughout the system. It is extremely hard to make adjustments to a person's security unless you know exactly where to look, which requires years of experience but shouldn't.
  • The platform is well suited for tracking project financials. The direct tie between the project budgets and costs on the accounting side makes this platform extremely valuable as we have real time cost data to make decisions from.
  • The platform is great in that it integrates the majority of our major processes. We can track a pursuit in Opportunity Management and push that information directly to a project. We hire people through the system and they are available to input on a project. We track time and pay people through CMiC and even manage our equipment fleet. This one platform satisfies a lot of our business needs, which makes our technology stack a bit easier to manage.
  • The platform as it stands today is not well suited for mobile consumption. We have users not use the mobile platform due to issues with losing data when not in wifi and issues with not understanding how to use the system.

We are a commercial construction company doing business in all of the western states. We use CMiC for our accounting, payroll, project management, and field. Before switching to CMiC we struggled with being able to connect with our guys in the field and being able to access our data from outside the office. With CMiC Cloud it has given us the ability to access our data from wherever we are. We constantly struggled with our field being able to see the latest information. CMiC Field has given them access to see the latest data and also easily submit daily journals and various reports.
  • CMiC has really good customer service
  • CMiC is constantly trying to evolve to meet the new and everyday needs
  • Willingness to collaborate with users on how they can improve
  • They provide a wide array of useful tools
  • The ability through the cloud to work from anywhere
  • Depending on what module you are in, there are a lot of issues with continuity. It appears that each screen was designed by a different programmer and there wasn't a basic structure to follow. The save button on one screen is at the top and on another it is on the bottom. Then on other screens the save button is called "process". Also on most date entry fields, you can enter the date as MMDDYY but on others, you have to do YYYY-MM-DD. I would really like them to make things consistent through all of the modules. It makes training new employees more difficult when there isn't consistency.
  • I’m hoping this has been fixed with the new CMiC Connect App but but mobile field in the past has been very glitchy. Every time there has been an update to the apps our employees and subcontractors have had to delete and uninstall the app. This has caused a lot of frustration and an unwillingness to use the app.
CMiC Construction Platform works great as an all-in-one solution. However, due to the fact that CMiC can do so many things well other programs that specialize in just one thing are oftentimes a little cleaner or more polished. The thing that has helped our company the most is being connected to the cloud. We are able to work from home, on the road, or in the field. Our connectivity with our field superintendents has never been better. They are able to see updated sub-lists, submittals, RFIs in real-time, not needing to rely on the project managers to either print or email the documents to them. For the price, there isn't a better all-in-one solution on the market.

CMiC [Construction Platform] is our primary ERP platform for construction financials. It is our cost single point of data. It's used by everyone in the Company.
  • It scales well.
  • CMiC has a strong user base
  • There are many workflows available for you to choose from
  • Support has been traditionally sub par
  • The customer is not often treated like a partner
  • New releases are not tested throughly
This is well suited for larger organizations that have sufficient internal resources to test, train and deploy. It is critical to have internal support resources and not rely on CMiC [Construction Platform] as primary support.

We use CMiC for Project Management, Payroll, Accounting, Invoice routing, and Time recording. The advantage of using CMiC is that all our data is centralized into one database. This means that everything talks to each other without the need for clunky 3rd party integrations.
  • Project Management
  • Analytics/BI
  • Accounting
  • QA patching
  • Support
If you are looking for a natively integrated ERP platform built specifically for the Construction Industry, then CMiC is for you. There are many other solutions out there, but only a handful that integrates financials into project management. The advantage of this is that you get real-time, accurate financial data along with Project Management without the need for 3rd party integrations.

CMiC Construction Platform (along with other modules) is being used mainly by the construction and supervision teams. This program aims to increase the efficiency of tasks carried out on site. These tasks include but are not limited to RFI's, handling drawings and Specs., Minutes of meetings, and so much more tool.
  • Handling RFI's.
  • Reporting Tools.
  • Creating Workflows.
  • Lacking an estimation function.
  • Scheduling tools need some improvements.
  • Needs optimization for older devices.
CMiC Construction Platform excels in dealing with tasks that are related to the construction sites in the core. For example, CMiC Construction Platform gathers all Requests for Information (RFI's) of the project in a single centralized location. This allows the engineers to have better follow up on these RFI's especially when multiple RFI's are connected. On the other hand, when it comes to variation orders (VO's) the program has a slight disadvantage when compared to other alternatives.

We use CMIC to manage our subcontracts, Change Orders, RFIs, submittals, Transmittals, daily logs, and most of all of our project documentation. All of our superintendents and project managers use CMIC. We do not have the financial side of CMIC right now, but have been talking about it however some of our management is not comfortable with switching from the financial software that we currently have and some are also not comfortable with having our financial software be on the cloud, some of them prefer to have all of the financial information stored locally on our accountant's computer and not even on our company network. Right now we are not utilizing CMIC as much as we could and I would like to try and get the company to use it more. I really like the software and it was much less expensive than other applications. The CMIC support has been really good at times but early on it was a bit rough. We had some issues getting a good response from support but for the most part, I have been very satisfied with their support folks. The user interface is similar to that of other project management software applications so folks in our company that had previously used other applications have been able to switch over fairly easily.

We do not have the financial side of CMIC right now, but have been talking about it, however, some of our management is not comfortable with switching from the financial software that we currently have and some are also not comfortable with having our financial software be on the cloud, some of them prefer to have all of the financial information stored locally on our accountant's computer and not even on our company network. I really like the punch list capability mobile field, however, we have a hard time getting our superintendents to use it for some reason. I like the mobile application so that our superintendents can view documentation on their phones.

We use CMIC to integrate our accounting and construction management operations.
  • Tracks contracts and change orders.
  • Tracks owner changer orders.
  • Supports monthly billing using AIA type documents.
  • The platform is large so operation is pretty slow.
  • Field management (daily reports, material tracking) is a little bulky and hard to use.
  • Invoicing can be a little glitchy.
The CMiC Construction platform works well for tracking costs and financials. It makes job buyout relatively easy. It does not work as well with field management. The daily report module is not particularly user-friendly for field personnel.

Our entire company uses CMiC for both accounting and project management. It has been helpful being able to incorporate all necessary departments into one software.
  • Communication between every department
  • Keeping all accounting and project management data in one space
  • Being able to use that data to focus on tasks that need more attention or effort
  • Better communication between Enterprise and Field where invoicing is concerned
  • Less random and vague error messages for users and subs billing in the online portal
  • More help from support when problems arise in regards to accounting functions with some sense of urgency.
It is very well suited to processing invoices, and job costing. We make frequent use of the reports and query functions as well. There are a few things in the software that do not function properly or at all however. We were told upon the sale of CMiC to us that we would be able to use the Compliance functions to help keep up with insurance expirations for vendors or subs etc. Unfortunately, it has not worked properly yet. Furthermore, it has actually caused really annoying issues that CMiC has yet to help us fix. It has been auto-assigning "automobile insurance" to all the vendors on both the subcontract level per job and the vendor level. These cause "compliance holds" each time we go to print a batch of checks. We did not even turn that option on as we do not use it, but we have no way to turn it off short of periodically running a compliance hold report and manually removing whatever the software will allow. If the vendor happens to have an invoice already in the system or a voucher in a batch you're screwed. After submitting the problem to the support team several times, and even a phone call complete with a patronizing non-helpful IT person, the problem still persists. The compliance part of CMiC does not even remotely function, let alone function properly, and needs attention ASAP.

[CMiC Construction Platform] is being used across the whole organization: in the office and in the field. From creating job costs to reconciling bank accounts
  • Easy to add/edit vendors and business partners
  • Quick search through AP invoices
  • Tracing a transaction is well made
  • Entering a code of the vendor instead of the company name while recording an invoice takes time and seems counter intuitive
  • Editing an invoice created through Image Management on the AP side is limited to description and address field. When changing the rest (invoice# or a date or an amount) - the whole trace of who entered/submitted/approved disappears. The way it works now is: deleting an invoice from the batch, locating it through Registry/invoice search, unsubmitting it, making changes, submitting, adding back to batch - time consuming
  • In Multiple distribution pop up window, when entering a new invoice, I'd make the field "Company" to be autofilled once "Job" is entered. It takes time to memorize what job number belongs to what company.
  • There is only web version available and it is limited compare to a desktop client. For instance I can only make one change at a time and save it. Multiple changes don't get saved in one click
[CMiC Construction Platform] is well suited for bigger companies with multiple locations and lots of employees.
It would be less appropriate for smaller companies that don't require such detailed job description/costing etc
