We used WePay to link to our auction site to receive payments. There were options of a few and I chose WePay. It is used during this event (Dec-March). It is used by accounting.
  • Links up to other websites easily.
  • Links up to your bank account easily.
  • Pulls reports.
  • Pulling reports link goes to your email, would be better right on site.
  • Credit card fees.
  • Doesn’t do all of payments - uses other website to run credit card.
It is good when you need a temporary (or permanent) solution to get funds to your bank account for something as small as a one time event, recurring or larger. It has reputable companies that use it and seems to integrate easily with most systems and accounts. You will have to go through a whole setup, with your bank accounts, etc.
  • Ease of use for one time yearly event.
  • Quickly transfers funds to account.
  • Pulls reports.
  • Helps us keep track.
  • Money goes into accounts quick.
  • Credit card fees are high.
These are linked to each other. There are multiple systems you have to use. One takes the credit card info and runs it and one puts the money into your account. It would be better to have one that does it all, if it exists. WePay seems to be one of the most commonly used websites of its type.

We utilize WePay as our payment processor in combination with Classy. It is primarily our Development and Accounting departments that utilize WePay to process credit card transactions and have them directly deposited in our bank account. Seems to be a fairly standard payment processor with low fees. WePay integrates well with the Classy platform which is why we opted to use it.
  • Low fees/rates
  • Integrates well with Classy
  • Email notifications
  • Admin reporting could be improved
  • Fees are pulled out of each transaction instead of aggregated at the end of the month (this could be a pro for some users)
  • Difficult to give switch the admin role after it has already been assigned
  • No credit card swipers
  • Only way to process a transaction is directly through the website
If you need a basic payment processor for credit card transactions with low fees/rates, WePay will work just fine. We wish it had the ability to process multiple transactions through the use of a credit card swiper or at least an easier/faster solution than having to re-fill out the transaction page on the website over and over. This could be a limitation due to our integration with Classy.
  • Lower credit card fees
  • Headaches with reporting/reconciling
  • Nice integration allowing for donors to cover credit card fees if they would like
WePay directly integrates with Classy and that was our sole reason for switching from iATS. iATS has several features but is also fairly complex. iATS has a great customer support team to help though. If we were not required to switch payment processors by Classy, I don't know if we would have selected WePay or not. It does the job, but does not appear to be anything special one way or the other.

We use WePay by office administrators and representatives to create one time and recurring billing subscriptions for our clients. It's a great alternative to PayPal to save on the percentage of transaction charges. We first used WePay in InfusionSoft and now use it within Zoho Subscriptions and Zoho Invoice for our billing. Their support is quick to respond in case we have questions, and its fairly easy to set up and get running with.
  • Lower cost than their competitors, as a start up every dollar we can save makes a difference.
  • Processing of payments is quick, we are notified and the funds are deposited usually within 2-3 business days.
  • They can be integrated with a lot of different systems online.
  • Simple to set up and start taking credit card payments.
  • None that I can think of.
Start up and small businesses could use WePay in conjunction with easy to use online billing systems. I was initially introduced to it with InfusionSoft CRM and from there I switched to a different system and found that they have many billing systems that they integrate with. They have different features than PayPal and Stripe, for non tech people it is very helpful. You don't need a huge understanding of API's and web hooks to get WePay integrated and start billing customers.
  • Time, it took about 15 minutes to get my billing system set up and integrated with WePay
  • I haven't had many refunds but they were able to help accommodate for the 2 or 3 I have had to do and walked me through the process with support information and via email.
  • No monthly/yearly fees are kind of nice to not have to worry about or pay when you are starting out
PayPal has it's own niche, and have more stand alone options, but they are confusing to navigate unless you are in their system a lot. Integration can take a lot more time to do and test out. Plus WePay charges less than PayPal does which in this case is an advantage.
Yes
Sage Payment Processing. We left the standard processing at the time because we had some offline payments as well as online and paying the month to month and annual fees included didn't make a lot of sense at the time. We also ended up using marketing automation and billing automation software that did not integrate with Sage. That's how we became introduced with WePay because those softwares had WePay as an option.

The most important feature for us in deciding to go with WePay was the ability to integrate with the other tools we were using to eliminate and simplify the sale and billing process we have. We have up to 30 different pieces of software to use on a daily process and the more logging in along with manually setting up billing, the less we were profitable. WePay was able to seamlessly integrate and that way we didn't have to take extra time consuming steps to bill our clients.
If we were to do it again we would probably evaluate more with 3rd party reviews, and look for other businesses in our industry and ask how they do it and why. It wasn't a high risk to try WePay out for what we needed to do so it was only a loss of time we spent trying to use it and not much of anything else, so it was a quick decision we were able to take advantage of.

Our nonprofit customers use our software to help plan, manage, and run fundraising auctions. Along with our software, they need credit-card processing - and it needs to integrate tightly with our platform, be easy and quick to sign up for, and be affordable. We integrate with many providers, but a significant portion of our incoming customers choose to use WePay.
  • Fast, easy signup - this is the primary reason we implemented support for WePay.
  • Customers who opt for WePay as their processor can begin accepting transactions within a few minutes - crucial when the team mounting the auction is a little behind in their planning process.
  • I'd like to see some advances in their customer service process - it's good, but occasionally my customers want just a bit more hand-holding.
It's a fantastic option for platforms whose customers are going to need temporary processing capacity - if they only need a few weeks or months where they are accepting cards, it's really amazingly competitive.
  • It's lowered our customer support load considerably - the WePay signup process is so much easier for our customers to negotiate than with traditional merchant processors that we no longer spend much time at all coaching them through it.
WePay is friendlier to the customer than Stripe or PayPal - so much easier to sign up for and use. Standard gateways are more flexible - they provide many more options on pricing, and the ability to choose the underlying processor - which is great, but also significantly more complicated for the customer.
