Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting

MIP Fund Accounting is being used by the accounting department to maintain the general ledger, manage and process payables, manage budgets, and manage fixed assets. The software has streamlined our monthly grant billing and financial statement preparation and has eliminated at least a third of the time it used to take to prepare for the end of year audit.
  • Handles segregation of funds for grants with ease.
  • Allows for flexible and customized reporting.
  • Budget data entry process is cumbersome. Would be helpful if the data entry worksheet functioned more like Excel.
  • Managing corporate credit card accounts within the AP module currently requires some creative thinking and work arounds. Development of functionality specific to this purpose would be helpful.
  • The product has reduced the required number of staffing hours overall in the accounting department and has shortened end of month and end of year time requirements significantly.
We are able to easily segregate funds from multiple sources or combine them, depending on the need at any given time.

There is no comparison. MIP is far superior in every way.
MIP Fund Accounting is a reasonably priced software solution for mid-sized non-profit organizations, especially those requiring the ability to segregate accounting for various funders. It allows for importing and exporting of data and makes monthly processes run with efficiency. It does require a skilled and knowledgeable consultant at the front end in order to ensure the right configurations. Once that is done however, it is ideal for any organization requiring functional allocation and segregation.
