Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting

MIP Fund Accounting is being used by our Finance Department and by our Payroll Administrator. We process our daily transactions for payables, receivables and cash, manage our fixed assets, and frequently generate reports for program managers and funding sources.
  • Being user friendly is a huge piece. The fact that windows for entering information from accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal vouchers are all very similar allows staff to comfortably assist their coworkers when needed without a huge learning curve.
  • Reporting certainly is a strength and being able to filter down to just the information you need for any given situation.
  • Where reporting is a pro, it can also be a con. In some reports, there are certain filters that aren't available or types of information that you just can't access and end up dumping two reports into Excel to merge them that way. We have noticed this in payroll with not being able to include employee title information in with time charged to various programs, etc.
  • The positive impact that I can think of is that it has grown with our agency and continues to meet the majority of our needs. The few times that we have needed "more" than what is offered have been worked out with other software from partner organizations.
We have been able to manage all our contracts very well. Only a handful of our programs run on our fiscal year schedule, so being able to access information for specific contract/grant periods is so helpful.
I inherited MIP when I joined the agency, so I'm unaware of what other options were considered.
