Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting
We use MIP to support the accounting and financial management functions for the whole organization.
- Robust system that can handle most any - well...any - non profit organizations needs.
- Highly customizable reports.
- Effective import and export ability for things that don't otherwise fit well or MIP doesn't do well.
- Very ineffective integration with associated HR and timesheet modules.
- Luckily import works well - as you best do budgeting (for example) outside of the system.
- Hard to update legacy structure when things change.
- Not going to MIP Advance - we need access to our server.
- Great ROI if you have the people who know how make the system work.
- Will not get your ROI if you are a small non-profit.
Can easily manage funds and revenue sources - this all comes down to the setup. If you set up your COA simplistically, like you are using QuickBooks, you will not see the benefit. Set it up correctly and ask the right questions - you can parse out any level, segment, fund, grant or what have you easily. Beware - orthogonal architecture in design though can cause infinite permutations - setup is key.
We selected MIP since - well - we're a non-profit. Alternatives are few for a large (or) complicated (or) multi-location non-profit.
