Overall Satisfaction with MIP Fund Accounting
Our nonprofit uses MIP as our accounting system, to enter accounts payable, pay bills, keep track of all revenue, and balance the cash accounts. It gives us the ability to easily allocate expenses across programs, and to assign a grant to a particular program. This way it tracks revenue and expenses for several programs at once. We use the reports to help with monthly board reporting, and to look up historical data.
- Allocating expenses according to a user created allocation table.
- It will generate a report with any parameter you can specify.
- Keeps track of vendor and donor balances.
- Creates an audit trail of each transaction and any corrections
- Customer support is difficult to access.
- The drill-down feature is an improvement, but should be easier to use.
- It is not easy to change users when there is staff turnover.
- There is a steep learning curve for new users.
- We have always used MIP, so data is accessible going back to the beginning of the organization. Seeing the history helps with making financial decisions.

The product has the ability to manage different funds, but the training for how to use that capability is expensive. We use it to some extent, but I feel there is a lot more that we don't know.
The selection was made before I came onboard.
