Overall Satisfaction with Amazon EMR (Elastic MapReduce)
For some clients, we have our product hosted on several AWS products, and when it comes to retrieving big volumes of data we use the Amazon EMR service. It has aided us in becoming more productive and saving time and effort. AWS is our go-to service for most of our needs,
- very easy to configure
- easy to manage large amounts of data
- very quick in executing transformations
- not a recommended service to mange smaller amounts of data
- expensive
- not the best user interface out there
- Monitoring and analytics
- Needs lesser effort since configurations are simple
- Not a cost effective solution
- People working on it need experience
- Saves time when done right
Amazon EMR (Elastic MapReduce) compares well against Microsoft Azure and Microsoft SQL servers in terms of performance and ease of use. This also means you pay more for the service. Amazon EMR is a great tool for handling large amounts of data. SQL Server would be a better choice when working with lesser data.
