Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine

Blackline has been an integral part of our success in improving the month end close process in the Corporate Accounting department and controls testing with our internal and external auditors. The month end close process is far more efficient since you can attach support and communicate with the users by commenting directly in each balance sheet reconciliation and task. The audits are much smoother, and they can do the majority of the selections for testing on their own, without ever having to communicate with the requestees through their own view. It has been very helpful on all fronts!
  • Blackline tries to think of multiple use cases and questions that they can address for different types of users. If they don't, they are very helpful at customizing the system to best help the user.
  • Blackline continues to review different ways to improve upon every module.
  • Blackline is very responsive when questions are asked.
  • The Intercompany Hub module is still quite new, so they have room to discover improvements to help the users better utilize the system for multiple needs.
  • Value add on identifying account variances which improved reporting.
  • Value add on working hours and audit process, which saves the company money.
I am not familiar with the other products evaluated.
All of the consultants are very helpful and responsive and put in a significant amount of effort to try and help us achieve what we need in the system.

Account reconciliations, Intercompany transactions, Month end tasks, Controls and audit testing are great examples where Blackline would work well. Our company currently does not use the variance analysis functionality. We have been exploring the idea of the Compliance module, but are not currently using it today. We are still looking into transactions matching.
