Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

- Catalyst 3560-CX Series
- Catalyst 6800 Series
We used the Cisco Catalyst switch for our user community switches, allowing workstations, phones, printers, scanners, APs, Cameras, etc., all to be connected, segregated, and stay up.
Pros
- Security is robust!
- Support is great!
- Stacking works well.
Cons
- Cloud management would be nice.
- Not a fan of the support renewal costs.
- Kind of a pain to implement.
- Doesn't always play well with others.
- The switches are reliable and can easily stretch beyond a life cycle when needed.
- The high cost of Cisco product and support is getting old, in a world with options.
- Cloud management is a must in a modern age.
We have not benefited from this. Decision to purchase is based on needing a reliable and secure solution.
If I were to compare the Catalyst to the Meraki, I do feel more secure about the Catalyst, as Meraki was not originally a cisco product and was acquired. So, from the point of security and dependability, the Catalyst is a winner.
