Overall Satisfaction with Cisco UCS Series
With over 90 devices, the Cisco UCS Series allows us to move blades from the data center with no re-cabling and minimum downtime. It also allows us to deploy new servers with only a few clicks. The time it takes to take a server out of the box and have it running is less than 20 minutes. Also, by creating profiles, we can reuse those templates with only minor changes to make them work on other sites.
- Flexibility
- Deployment
- Ease of use
- No sub menus within sub menus
- When there is an error in a template/profile, it would be nice for it to tell us exactly where that problem is.
- Life cycle of new hardware. We were able to refresh 40 existing servers with new ones in under a day
- When having to move chassis around, having to only move 4 cables instead of the 16 that would have been required for rack-mount servers
Using the Cisco UCS Series's blade chassis has allowed us to keep our port saturation level down while improving our environment's redundancy. Also, having the ability to easily move hardware around the data center with little effort and no downtime.
Initial setup and configuration is time-consuming to get all the parameters set up. Admins who aren't familiar with the GUI, we have a hard time getting everything configured the first time. But once the initial configuration is done. It's very easy to deploy new servers or move them between chassis.
