Overall Satisfaction with ContractWorks

We use ContractWorks to serve as an archive for executed agreements and supporting documentation, including employment agreements. We also use its approvals function to mediate our internal contract review process and to sign documents electronically. It is used by the administrative offices of this healthcare organization for all documents executed by the company. It has made managing our archive much easier, permitting text-based search of documents spanning several decades. This is a vast improvement on the simple directory folder we had in the past. Furthermore, electronic review, signature, and approval has significantly simplified the contract review process and permitted paperless review at any time on any device for our major stakeholders. It has been a game changer.
  • Ease of use/simple to teach.
  • Unlimited document storage.
  • Exceptionally helpful and prompt support.
  • Responsive developers.
  • Allowing changes to documents midway through approvals/signatures.
  • More sophisticated interface for searching in document text would be nice.
  • Some ability to restart agreements that have been declined by intermediate approvers would be nice also.
  • Complete elimination of paper-based review process.
  • Greatly enhanced search capability for legacy documents.
  • Enhanced satisfaction among contract reviewers, ease of use.
I demo'ed Agiloft and ContractWorks when we were searching for a product for us, and while Agiloft seemed like an excellent product with a full suite of features, it was just far more than we needed to address our primary issues: moving our database to a secure, searchable platform. Agiloft allowed some of the in-product editing features that ContractWorks lacks, but it required extensive training for which we would have to hire Agiloft, limited storage of documents, and a very significant investment of employee time to create superusers. Our sense was that if we needed a more sophisticated product in the future, we could easily switch over from CW (which permits simple, immediate download of your entire contract archive) to Agiloft but not the reverse.

This is a highly approachable product, even for users who are not quick to learn or who have only a basic mastery of basic software applications. If you find that you have members in your organization who have struggled to adapt to a working-from-home model, you may find that this product creates a simple point of entry for them. It is similar in interface to products they have used before and includes generous, high-quality support.
My questions are answered just about immediately, and this is true for all members of my team who have reached out for support. Furthermore, when we have asked about features that do not yet exist, we received detailed commentary from the company and its developers letting us know whether we could realistically expect any of those features to come to be. I am beyond satisfied with support.
ContractWorks is an excellent solution for any organization in our position: going from no contract management solution at all to one that is simple to use, easy to train on, and does the basics exceedingly well. The product is constantly evolving and adding new functionality that we have found very, very useful. Over the years since we adopted it, we have found that our users want more and more out of its functionality, and at times we have had to explain to stakeholders that there are limitations to this software (especially concerning changing the content of a document sent for review in the software itself, which cannot presently be done). It is very easy to manage user roles and permissions, and it's very easy to use the product from any kind of smart device.

More sophisticated users that use more sophisticated products already may find that the kind of robust in-software document editing/revision functions that some contract management products offer just isn't here, and that is true. There are reporting features here that are more than enough for organizations starting from scratch, but are probably limited for organizations looking for very granular information about their contracts. There is a significant time investment involved in tagging your contract database when it enters ContractWorks, although I suspect that is true for just about all products.

The price represents very good value for money.
