Overall Satisfaction with Intacct

Intacct is currently used by our Finance and Accounting departments in order to bill/invoice our clients, track and pay our AP bills, as well as monitor and apply AR payments. It is also used to consolidate and prepare a financial reporting package for our parent company.
  • Because it is cloud-based, it is easily accessible from just about anywhere. This makes it very convenient for traveling, or being away from your work machine and needing access.
  • Allows for detailed and customizable mass-uploading of invoices for our month-end process in order to properly bill clients.
  • As a software company, a big part of our billing process is deferring and recognizing revenue based upon accounting principles. Intacct does a good job of allowing us to customize our method used to recognize and defer revenue depending on the revenue type. Intacct also does a good job of tracking and allowing us to run reports to keep our balances accurate.
  • We currently use a third party software company to track and reimburse our employees' reimbursable travel expenses. Intacct, to my knowledge, has the ability to track this information but I was told form the time I started to use Intacct that their solution was not advanced enough for us to be able to use.
  • Though we use the AP module to track and pay our bills, we currently struggle with Intacct's Purchase Requisition and Purchase Order modules as well as the approval process that these modules entail.
  • While I was not at MRI Software prior to the use of Intacct, I do believe that overall, Intacct has allowed us to improve the efficiency of our month-end and quarter end closing processes.
My use of QuickBooks was for a public tax firm, and was primarily used for smaller, family-owned businesses. And while it is more like comparing apples to oranges, overall functionality and user interface is much nicer with Intacct.
Currently, Intacct meets our needs as a company and we are happy with our level of service and support as well as the abilities that are available to us to provide our clients with the necessary service as well as meet our business needs.
At a high level, I think Intacct is most useful for companies of similar size to MRI Software. While it is a powerful tool and meets our needs, larger companies may require something more powerful and integrated.
