Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Jabber

We currently use Jabber for IM and presence within our organization. We find that many departments have integrated the tool into their daily workflows and processes. For the organization as a whole it is used on a daily basis as a communication tool that provides end users with the ability to instantly reach out to other coworkers and ask a question or obtain information. We find the tool helps us address many challenges organizations face. 1. Email clutter - The tool helps reduce email volume as people can have quick discussions that don't leave behind 20+ emails. 2. Presence info - People can look other up in the directory and see information on their presence or location. 3. Ability to communicate - Users can quickly reach out to others to collaborate or ask for information.
  • Ability to create groups of contacts and send a group chat or start a conference call.
  • Ability to retreive telephony info, e.g. voice mails, call logs.
  • Integrations with Microsoft Exchange calendaring and WebEx Conferencing. Popup reminders of meetings with buttons to quickly join the conference calls.
  • Screen sharing \ presenting.
  • Presence information isn't always correct. Better active directory communication.
  • Calendaring information is sometimes out of date and a refresh doesn't correct.
  • Increased employee efficiency.
  • Support staff is able to better support customers.
  • Clinical staff is able to serve more patients and provide better information.
  • Office Communicator and Lync
Jabber wasn't as full featured but it came down to a financial decision; we were able to secure Jabber for our organization for a fraction of what the Microsoft solution was going to cost.
Jabber is best suited for casual communication where there are no compliance \ regulatory requirements.
