Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)
My organisation does not use Kofax Power PDF. I am working from home because of Covid-19 and I have Kofax Power PDF installed on my home computer. Consequently I use it for work purposes.
My work involves publishing committee agendas & minutes on the organisation's website. On occasion, the file sizes of the documents that are sent to me for publishing on the website are too large for the software used to produce these documents. Therefore, I use Kofax Power PDF to "optimise" these documents which then allows me to use the necessary software to publish the documents and produce agendas.

- On the Advanced Processing tab I particularly like the options to "Reduce" File Sizes Optimise as very often I receive files that are too large for our publishing software to handle.
- On the Home tab the option to combine files is extremely helpful as I often receive several documents in different formats that need to be combined to produce a single report.
- On the Edit tab, the "Convert to editable" is extremely useful if I need to make changes to PDF documents, thereby avoiding the necessity to return them to the report author.
- Kofax Power PDF has a myriad of extremely useful functions. The ones listed above are the functions I use the most.
- Occasionally, using the "Convert to editable" can be a little bit clunky. That said, for minor changes, it is preferable to use this function rather than return documents to the report author to make the amendments.
- Sometimes, when "optimising" documents, text can become a little bit blurred, especially if it is a document that has been previously scanned and/or is not of great quality to begin with.
- For the life of me, I cannot seem to be able to set Kofax Power PDF as my default PDF application for Windows 10 (but perhaps that's just me!).
- For me, working at home, using Kofax Power PDF has saved me a remarkable amount of time in publishing documents, which is a major part of my work, on our organisation's website.
- As I work to statutory deadlines for publication of documents, the ability to publish documents in quick order has meant I have had more time to devote to other aspects of my work and my employer has benefited in that that the organisation has been able to maintain productivity levels while reducing the number of employees in a recent reorganisation.
- Having Kofax Power PDF on my personal PC has allowed me to assist colleagues who are up against statutory deadlines to publish large documents as I can optimise the documents they need to publish, thereby saving time. I have recommended to senior management that they invest in purchasing a PDF application and/or licence to allow my colleagues to access to such software on the laptops provided to them by the organisation.
I have previously used Adobe PDF both at work and at home. However, it is several years since I last used Adobe at work and I cannot now quite recall the functionality it offered. Having opted to buy Kofax Power PDF, it gives me the functionality that I require for it to be useful when compared with the free version of Adobe.
