Overall Satisfaction with Litmos

We use Litmos to educate scientists on specific processes and technologies that we develop. We also use it for certification of service technicians who service the scientific equipment we manufacture. Litmos helps us address the need to have a system that is globally accessible as we have employees and vendors worldwide. It also helps us create and deliver content rapidly to get out to our learners.
  • Learner/Learner Record management
  • Assembling Modules, Courses, Learning Paths, and Collections
  • Most reporting in the custom Reporting Engine
  • Custom Roles is desperately needed--this is a critical function for our organization
  • More options in some of the advanced reporting (which Teams Learners are on instead of # of Teams they're on)
  • Better change management/change logs to document which specific features/items/flaws/bugs were fixed/changed/deprecated
  • Litmos has made training certified technicians across the globe much more cost efficient and manageable.
  • Litmos has helped other departments in our company realize they can put their own training materials into the system or content library for the benefit of new employees or existing employees.
  • Litmos has helped managers identify compliance and certification requirements for certain learners in the system.

Do you think Litmos delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Litmos's feature set?

Yes

Did Litmos live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Litmos go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Litmos again?

Yes

I gave Litmos an 8 because most of the foundation is solid, but there are features that are still lacking (Content Author is incomplete, Video Assessments reveal the rubric and that's like giving Learners a cheat sheet, some features simply don't work, like the Internal/External Profiles in Learner Profiles). A major feature that's missing is custom roles, which was previously announced as an upcoming feature release, but was subsequently canceled indefinitely. Also, reporting gets tricky between "Manager" reporting and the full (custom) Reporting Engine--it's too inconsistent.
Litmos is well suited to serve up content and assessments for organizations that want to expose their employees/learners to educational courses, either at-will or by mandatory assignment, that may or may not result in documented certification. The platform also provides for a built-in hierarchy that works somewhat as a firewall to help segregate content if you're using a separate instance of the software for external vendors or distributors.

Litmos is a participation-based educational platform, not to be confused with a product knowledge/product info app and as such, the platform requires a great deal more management and organization than inputting data for quick knowledge bites on a product. Additionally, Litmos is not comparable to AI, which is an apples-to-goats comparison. They serve two entirely different functions in their current state.

Litmos is less suited for organizations who have strong requirements for a larger number of custom roles working in the platform. The available roles are cookie-cutter roles that don't always fit our needs which means a choice between security/data integrity compromise in some cases, or disallowing individuals certain access rights because they come with the cookie cutter role.
