Overall Satisfaction with ManageEngine Desktop Central

We use ManageEngine for systems inventory and patch management across our organization. ManageEngine maintains a list of all PC's in our organization for Audit compliance. We also use ManageEngine to patch Microsoft and third-party software on all systems for security and audit compliance. We also use the remote desktop function for some support cases.
  • System inventory - ManageEngine scans every computer, listing a detailed report of all hardware and software.
  • Patch management - Microsoft products and most third party software receive security updates on a regular schedule without user intervention.
  • Inconsistent across modules - Some fields cannot be viewed from different modules.
  • Reporting could be improved to make it more user-friendly and flexible.
  • Inventory feature has allows us to meet audit expectations for inventory control.
  • Patch management keeps all of our systems up-to-date (Microsoft and third-party applications) for a much more secure environment.
KACE and Desktop Central have a lot of the same features. Desktop Central was significantly cheaper to implement for our environment.

ManageEngine Desktop Central works with Active Directory but does not require it. The client module runs on Windows, Macs, and Linux. We have a very distributed environment with approximately 115 branch locations. Desktop Central makes it very easy to maintain our hardware inventory and ensure that all systems are patched. This greatly reduces maintenance labor. Reporting on out of warranty systems also helps with yearly purchase decisions.

ManageEngine Desktop Central Support

They are very quick to respond to issues. They are also very open to product improvement or feature requests. Support is based in India which can cause communication difficulties.
