Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Marketo Engage

We currently use Adobe Marketo Engage across the Marketing function that supports our business in Canada and the UK. We use Adobe Marketo Engage mainly as our email automation tool, with its integration into Salesforce giving us a 360-degree view of our clients' and prospects' activity and engagement. We have 3 to 5 active users - who use the tool at least once a day.

Pros

  • Very smart email marketing capabilities. A lot of our marketing is driven by user behavior either on the website or in our products - and Adobe Marketo Engage helps us deliver timely emails to trigger the actions we want.
  • Account-Based marketing capabilities - this is still quite new to us - but we are starting to see results with some of our big target audiences - where we can build really customized campaigns aimed towards individuals within the target company. We will be looking to scale up on ABM activity this year.
  • Salesforce Integration - CRM integration is key for us - since that's where all of our product and client data resides. Adobe Marketo Engage's integration into SF is seamless and easy to use for marketers and our sales people.
  • Reporting features are excellent - our company is becoming more and more data-driven - and there's a lot of focus on Marketing ROI and KPIs. With Adobe Marketo Engage we get actionable insights from the funnel metrics, that help us make decisions and keep us on track.

Cons

  • The setup process could have been simpler. Since we moved from an existing automation tool, there was a lot of work involved in getting Adobe Marketo Engage up and running effectively.
  • The process to load and maintain lists is sometimes cumbersome. Our lists are centrally kept in Salesforce, and it's not a seamless integration into the Adobe Marketo Engage universe.

The marketing team has key KPI metrics to hit for each of our product lines - and Adobe Marketo Engage helps in aligning our campaigns and tactical outlets to our overall objectives. We use the Campaigns feature on Adobe Marketo Engage to draw up all campaigns under a specific pillar - so that reporting is seamless across the board.
Adobe Marketo Engage stacks up really well against competitors in the campaign design toolkit - including emails, landing pages, workflows - as it's very user-friendly. Another plus is that it has excellent integration with Salesforce, whereas some other systems like Hubspot are better with their own Hubspot CRM tool. Adobe Marketo Engage has tons of customization and personalization features that rank much better than other tools in this area.

Adobe Marketo Engage is well suited for either extensive workflows and campaigns involving complex logic and paths - or very simple one-off email campaigns. It makes it very easy to do customer segmentation, lead management, and scoring. It is a little less appropriate to use for use in conjunction with a CDP platform as the integration is not very smooth.
