Overall Satisfaction with Oracle eBusiness Suite

We use Oracle eBusiness Suite across multiple departments. It is the central system that collects data from all business functions, consolidates the same and funnels accounting data to our reporting tool.
  • Auditing - the inbuilt checks and controls ensure that all critical activities are audit tracked and presentable to auditors for review.
  • Functionality - the breadth and depth of functionality available to be utilized is essential for an organization looking for a single system to consolidate their business functions
  • Customizability - While this is strictly not one of the features supported by Oracle, the system does lend itself to customization and can greatly enhance usability
  • Reporting - Oracle needs to become better at reporting and using the latest trends for reporting using realtime analytics
  • GUI - the user interface of Oracle (barring Cloud) is still Java based and cumbersome to use.
  • It has had a positive impact in that our business processes are now more structured, there is a robust SOP in place and processes are tracked and auditable.
While the advantage of Workday is its UI and general ease of use, the depth of functionality that it offers is not great and given that it is a SaaS product, there is not much flexibility in terms of customizing the application to our specific needs.
For medium to large organizations that do not have any ERP systems, Oracle would a good place to go for their ERP needs. However, if they already use an ERP system (either inbuilt or purchase of a built-for-purpose tool), then Oracle can seem too heavy for them. Further, for small organizations, Oracle might seem too cumbersome and might seem a more expensive option.

Using Oracle eBusiness Suite

500 - Almost all functions of the business are represented from Procurement, Payables, Revenue, Tax, Manufacturing, Quality, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Legal and Commercial
20 - We have a big contingent of technical resources who handle all the technical issues like code fixes, bugs etc along with technical development (reports, form personalization etc). We also have a small number of functional experts who work with the business to identify requirements, design solutions and work with the technical team to develop and deliver the same.
  • General Ledger - We use GL across all our business functions as the consolidation hub for all accounting activites
  • Payables - Our payables function is centralized and all outflow of money is handled through Oracle Payables
  • Revenue - All revenue from all sources is recorded and consolidated within Oracle Receivables.
  • Order Management - Our sales team use Oracle Order Management to record all sales of products to customers
  • Manufacturing - Our entire manufacturing processes are mapped out in Oracle and we heavily use Oracle Process Manufacturing to record and progress through our manufacturing process
  • Product Serialization - We use OPSM to do the serialization for our products
  • Barcode Scanning - We use handheld barcode scanners which integrate into Oracle and is used in our inventory scanning
  • We would like to use Oracle to track project costs
  • We need to be able to make better use of Oracle HR to perform end to end resource management
  • We could use OTL to track contingent workforce timesheets and utilization
Our company is heavily invested in Oracle and it would be a huge undertaking to move away from this platform which would probably make it a bad value proposition.
